SA Masters Athletics (SAMA) was founded in 1971 and caters for men and women athletes aged 30 years
The main aim of the Club is to provide an ongoing competition program for mature age athletes in South Australia and to especially cater for people of all athletic abilities. Congratulations Charlotte Gerner!
Yesterday in Daegu it was another day of extreme weather conditions; but Charlotte set a new SAMA record in the W45 400m hurdles with her time of 73.59.
Charlotte was the only Australian to compete in this final.

Let’s shine a bright light on our CHAMPION Lyn Peake yesterday in the W75 100m. This is the 7th time Lyn has won an individual World Championship in sprints. Gold in 17.80 seconds.
Our superstar Susan Turner ran an impressive 5th in the final of her W65 100m, 14.73. Marlene Norton-Baker placed 7th in the W70 800m. And Charlotte Gerner ran an impressive 4th in the final of the W45 80m Hurdles.

Monday in Daegu. Ann Jefferies writes:
Sarah Chinner ran an amazing 800m race this afternoon to win a silver medal! I had hammer at the same time in a different stadium and I threw a new W60 state record of 38.45m to win a bronze medal! It was my first throw and I had to wait the whole competition to see if someone would beat it. Gabi Watts of NSW was the thrower behind me in distance so when she didn’t get further in the final round I knew I had won my first ever World Masters medal! So happy!

Ann Jefferies W60 javelin, Day 2 Daegu.
Ann writes: ‘I came 7th in the javelin today with 26.69m. I am really happy to have made the top 8 which was my goal. The winner from Trinidad and Tobago threw a World Record 38.19m!’
What an exciting time! Well done Ann!
