Quick interaction with one of our members working on a few aspects of the clean! One of the perks of having smaller classes, we get to actually spend time and coach our members more thoroughly,

All part of the improvement process at Siege 💪🏽

We often get confused for a CrossFit gym, which we are NOT.
Here at Siege we definitely combine different disciplines, but our overall approach is more of a “functional fitness” angle.

How we differ primarily is we minimise the amount of gymnastics skill in our sessions and focus primarily on straight forward strength and fitness that will elevate your day to day life.

The excuses are there, they just don’t use them.

From riding to work, arriving after a night shift, or dragging the kids along… our members make it work, because their health is a non negotiable for not only themselves but those that rely on them.

How you unrack a barbell can really make or break a lift. Regardless of your form throughout the movement.

In a quality bench press we are always looking for:
Depressed and retracted shoulder blades.

To achieve this, we pull them into this position prior to unracking. So if your hooks are too high and you need to roll your shoulders forward to get the bar over the lip, you instantly lose that set up/advantage.

It’s the small things 🤝

Mixed grip is simply the stronger grip for deadlifting.

Why? Because the bar naturally rolls into your hands rather than rolling out like it does with a double overhand grip. That means you can hold onto more weight with less chance of your grip becoming the limiting factor.

A common concern is that mixed grip causes injuries or muscular imbalances. In reality, this is extremely rare. If it does worry you, simply perform your accessory work, like Romanian deadlifts, with the opposite mixed grip to your main deadlift sets.

One important point: if you’re planning on lifting heavy with a mixed grip, warm up with a mixed grip. Don’t do all your warm-up sets with a different grip and then switch at the last minute. You want your warm-ups to be specific to your top sets so your body is prepared for exactly how you’ll be lifting when the weight gets heavy.

Every class, we’re watching and we’re coaching.

We’re making small corrections that help you move better, more efficiently, and get more out of every session.

Because showing up consistently is imperative. But consistency isn’t the whole picture. Intensity and efficiency matter just as much.

If you’re repeating the same movement patterns week after week without feedback, you’ll only get so far.

Whether it’s your first session or your 500th, you’ll still get coached. We’ll celebrate the wins, but we’ll also tell you when your squat needs adjusting, your brace could be stronger, or your technique could be cleaner.

That’s what proper coaching is.
We don’t just supervise a class. We coach it.
