We’re back with another “How To” as we get ready for the Track & Field season! 🙌

Remember, these videos aren’t just for our athletes — they’re also designed to help parents and carers learn the basics, so you feel comfortable jumping in and helping our Age Group Leaders on competition nights. No athletics experience needed!

🏃‍♀️ THIS WEEK: LONG JUMP & TRIPLE JUMP

They might look a little tricky at first, but once you know the basics, they’re really easy events to help with!

A few key things to remember:

👟 Long Jump — run, take off from one foot, jump and land safely in the sand.

👟 Triple Jump — remember HOP, STEP, JUMP!
The athlete hops onto the same foot, steps onto the opposite foot, then jumps into the sand.

📏 Helping out might be as simple as raking the pit, measuring a jump, watching the take-off area or recording results.

Have a watch of the video so when competition nights begin, you’ll know exactly what’s happening and can confidently lend a hand. ❤️

One of the best things about Little Athletics is that everyone pitches in! 🙌

In the lead-up to our Track & Field season, we’re going to share a short “How To” video each week, explaining one of our events.

These aren’t just for our athletes! They’re also for parents and carers so you can learn the basics of each event and feel confident jumping in to help our Age Group Leaders on competition nights. You definitely don’t need to be an athletics expert — many jobs are easy once you know the basics!

A huge congratulations to all of our amazing SPLAC athletes who competed at the State Cross Country Championships at Lake Dewar over the weekend! 👏

Reaching State level is an incredible achievement, and we are so proud of every athlete who got out there, gave it their best and represented SPLAC so brilliantly. ❤️🖤

2027 New Zealand Development Tour nominations are OPEN! 🇳🇿 ✈️

The 2027 New Zealand Development Tour is an incredible opportunity for Little Athletics Victoria Under 14 and Under 15 athletes from the 2026/27 season.

A team of up to 36 athletes will be selected and will spend 7 days touring with the LAVic team from 6th-13th of January 2027 and will compete at the 2027 North Island "Colgate Games" in Whangārei.
