INTRODUCING: Toowoomba Couriers & Transport Junior Sedan Club Championship!

With a special thanks to Jason Boss, Charlton Raceway Inc registered Junior Sedans will compete in the Toowoomba Couriers & Transport Club Championship, this season at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway!

This provides our very own Junior Sedan competitors; the future of our club, and speedway racing as a whole; a cool banner to race beneath all season long. As our junior sedan contingent of the Charlton Raceway Inc continues to strengthen, we are excited by the opportunity that the Jason Boss has enabled the division; a show of Jason’s continued support of Junior Sedan racing in South-East Queensland.

At the popular end-of-season Trophy Night, club-registered Junior Sedan Top Star and New Star competitors who attend will be awarded their placings in the Club Championship as seen in previous seasons, but will now have the exciting opportunity to take out an array of gifts and prizes as well, to reward the driver’s and teams for the season’s efforts.

For travelling drivers and teams, this will have no effect on nightly placings in Top Star/New Star races, as club-registered competitors will accrue points throughout the season towards the Club Championship, as has occurred in years past.

The Charlton Raceway Inc Junior Sedans will contest Round 1 of the Toowoomba Couriers & Transport Club Championship on Saturday 10th October at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway.

October 10th will also feature Round 1 of the Engage Ag Production Sedan Champions Series and Round 2 of the Bully’s Off Road 4WD Street Stock Dirt Masters Series.

SSA JUNIOR SEDAN CRITERIA CHANGES

Following an outcome at the recent September SSA Board Meeting, Speedway Sedans Australia is pleased to announce updated New Star and Top Star criteria, effective 1 October 2026.
The change introduces a clear, nationally consistent and age-based competition structure, with eligibility criteria, bringing SSA Junior Sedans into line with other forms of motorsport and the wider sporting community.

From 1 October 2026:
• New Stars will be for competitors aged 10 to 12 who have not previously graduated to Top Stars, with eligibility ending when the driver turns 13.
• A driver’s wins, placings, consistency or number of seasons will not automatically end their New Star eligibility before they turn 13.
• Top Stars will remain open to eligible SSA Junior Sedan competitors aged 10 to 16.
• Completely new competitors aged 13 or older may apply through the SSA National Office for an Over Age Approval request form. This is limited to four race meetings or six months, whichever occurs first.
• Once a driver graduates to or competes in a designated Top Stars race, SSA State Title or SSA National Title, they cannot return to New Stars.

This change provides a clearer development pathway for young competitors, greater certainty for families and officials, and helps prevent misuse of the New Star development grade.

The updated Section 5.4 policy has been emailed to SSA Junior Sedan stakeholders, SSA affiliated clubs and associations, and SSA accredited stewards. We encourage all SSA Junior Sedan families, club and venue operators, and officials to read the policy carefully.

The season officially kicks off this weekend for the Charlton Raceway Inc’s members and divisions at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway, with Street Stocks and Modified Sedans appearing across the weekend alongside the SEDL Thunder on the Downs for Sprintcars.

The Street Stocks will contest Round 1 of the Bully’s Off-Road 4WD Dirt Masters Series on Friday night, with the Toowoomba Steering & Suspension Smackdown Series for Modified Sedans running its opening round on Saturday night.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Wendy Wright who was a true supporter of speedway. Wendy passed away on Saturday morning the 22nd of August. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
