A Q&A with Backyard Legends 🔥

Join us in the Down Under Bar on Friday 2nd October as we chat all things Backyard Ultras with Jayden McCormack and Sam Christie !

These boys are no strangers to the format!
Jayden became our last one standing in our first race in 2024, with an incredible 28 laps in only his second backyard, and Sam assisted Chris Van Leer to his 43 yard victory in 2025, completing an incredible 42 yards in only his second backyard. Both have gone from strength to strength since, completing 68 yards at the recent Clint Eastwood to Qualify for the Australian Backyard team, the RedBackyarders, after getting heartbreakingly close at Dead Cow Gully earlier in the year.

So come along, have your questions ready and pick up some last minute tips and tricks before you take on the Backyard Ultra challenge for yourself!

Congratulations to .gore.ultrarunner and Gemma Gore, and the entire team involved with Project 168!
The livestream has been all-consuming and the donation to Telethon is a phenomenal example of what our sport can achieve for such a worthy cause.

For context, only 2 people have exceeded 33 laps in our event’s short history, so to extend your previous PB by that much is beyond comprehension Phil.
Rest up, recover well and know that the entire GCBU community is behind you.
