Uwezo is an exceptional local Townsville athlete from Townsville North Star Athletics Club, but we won’t hold that against him 😜 Let’s support our local athletes no matter what club they come from! On the international stage the only colours that matter are green and gold!! πŸ’šπŸ’› Let’s go Uwezo!

A huge congratulations to Townsville North Star athlete Uwezo Lubenda on a fantastic performance at the World U20 Athletics Championships.

Uwezo got his campaign off to a flying start in the 100m heats, producing a brilliant new personal best of 10.33 seconds to finish 3rd in his heat and secure his place in the semi-finals.

Backing up later in the day, Uwezo ran 10.54 seconds in the semi-final, finishing 26th overall against one of the strongest fields of young sprinters in the world.

To achieve a personal best on the world stage and progress through to the semi-finals is a fantastic result and a testament to the hard work and dedication Uwezo has put into his athletics journey.

The championships aren't over just yet, with Uwezo still to represent Australia in the 4x100m relay later in the program. We wish him and the Australian team all the very best as they take to the track once again!

Congratulations, Uwezoβ€”we're incredibly proud of your achievements and can't wait to see what's next! πŸ’šπŸ’›

β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉSpeedy Recovery, Glen! β€οΈπŸ–€

The entire Ross River Athletics Club family would like to send our best wishes to Masters athlete Glen as he begins a new recovery journey.

After competing in Darwin, an MRI revealed a severe stress reaction. Following six weeks of rehabilitation and only recently getting off crutches, Glen suffered a major setback when a simple twist while stepping backwards resulted in a complete fracture.

As the X-rays show, this is a serious injury, but if there's one thing we know about Glen it's that he's incredibly tough, determined, and resilient. The road ahead may be challenging, but we have no doubt he'll attack his recovery with the same grit and perseverance he brings to training and competition.

Glen, the entire RRAC community is behind you. Focus on healing, take it one step at a time, and know we're all looking forward to seeing you back around the track when the time is right.

Please join us in wishing Glen a smooth recovery and a successful return to athletics. πŸ’ͺ❀️

Get well soon, Glen Bray
