Two very special former Arcadians ๐๐
Friendships formed through lifesaving ๐
Zoe and Jess spent years crossing paths at carnivals โ familiar faces in different age groups, never quite in the same circle. Then life shifted, their worlds overlapped, and lifesaving became the thread that tied it all together. What started as casual became something much deeper. They've worked together, coached together, trained together, and celebrated together. A decade of shared moments, big and small, that simply never would have happened without the surf club.
"We have done a lot together over the years. Worked, coached, trained, celebrated and I can say without lifesaving our paths definitely wouldn't have crossed, but I'm glad they did." โ Zoe Donnelly, Marcoola SLSC
That's what this movement does quietly, and consistently, across every club in Queensland. It puts people in the same place at the right time, gives them something worth showing up for, and lets the rest unfold. ๐๏ธ

It takes a village to keep a surf club running โ sometimes itโs fundraising, sometimes itโs ferry ticketsโฆ and sometimes itโs a 4x4 and a car trailer!
A huge thank you to AEP Engineering for stepping in and lending us a vehicle and trailer so we could transport our recently stolen and damaged surf rescue SSV to the repairer. Your support made a big difference and helped keep our operations moving. Weโre incredibly grateful for the great businesses here in Townsville that always step up to support the Arcadian SLSC when we need it. Community backing like this is what keeps our club going strong. โค๏ธ๐ Thanks again, AEP โ we truly appreciate it! ๐

Great interview by our newest Youth patrol members, well done girls โค๏ธ๐
BOARDING SCHOOL TO BEACH PATROLS๐โ๏ธ
From Papua New Guinea to the Torres Strait and the South Pacific near Samoa, three Townsville boarding students are stepping up to protect one of North Queenslandโs busiest beaches. ๐๐ฉ
As National Volunteer Week draws to a close this weekend, St Patrick's College Townsville students Brooklyn, Nancy and Anika are being recognised for swapping boarding house life for rescue boards and patrol uniforms as volunteer surf lifesavers on The Strand.
The trio spoke with Saturday Brekky host Jess Naunton after completing their very first patrol earlier this month, with Anika proudly earning her Bronze Medallion while all three students completed their Surf Rescue Certificates before officially joining patrols on the beach.
The students say they hope to one day take their lifesaving knowledge and water safety skills back to their home communities, where awareness and access to training can often be limited.
Now helping keep watch on The Strand, the girls say the experience has not only built confidence and lifesaving skills, but also given them a chance to give back to the Townsville community that welcomed them in.
