We're incredibly proud of Harry and Alexis, who represented Queensland at the Judo Australia National Championships on the Gold Coast over the weekend.

It was their first time competing at Nationals and a valuable opportunity to experience the next level of competition. Harry returned home with a silver medal, while both boys gained invaluable experience that will help shape their future in the sport.

A big thank you to Sensei Boyd for travelling with the crew and providing support and guidance every step of the way.

Well done, boys - we're so proud of you both! πŸ‘

A special moment from training last Monday πŸ’›

After returning from the Cairns NQ Regional 2 competition, we asked our younger kids (MonStars) to stay back so Sensei Boyd could re-present our Junior competitors with their medals in front of the club.

It was a lovely opportunity for our younger judoka to celebrate the achievements of their older peers - and also one of the rare chances we get to have most of our kids together for a photo, with most tag-teaming between classes each afternoon.

Seeing their mates compete and succeed has already inspired several other students to give competition a go themselves, with some now preparing to attend the upcoming Innisfail competition next weekend! πŸ‘

We’re incredibly proud of the supportive culture within our club and the way our students encourage one another both on and off the mats.

Thank you to the team at Cairns Judo Club for hosting NQ Regional 2 on the weekend and to everyone from Cairns, Innisfail Judo Club Inc. and CORAL COAST JUDO who helped create such a supportive and competitive atmosphere.

Our six Townsville judoka came home with 10 gold medals, 2 silver medals and a bronze. More importantly, we were proud of the way they represented our club by supporting each other and showing great spirit on and off the mats.

Regional judo in North Queensland continues to grow because of the clubs that keep showing up, volunteering, travelling and backing each other. We’re grateful to be part of it.

Next stop: NQ Regional 3 in Innisfail on 23–24 May, which includes a training camp. We’d love to see another strong turnout from across the region! Registrations are open on Smoothcomp now: https://smoothcomp.com/en/event/32220
