Townsville District Rugby Union Referees Association (TDRURA) provides referees for matches in the Townsville district incl. Ayr, Charters Towers & Ingham.
As participation in Rugby across the Townsville district continues to grow, so too does the need for qualified referees, assistant referees, touch judges and referee coaches. Each week, each season, referees and match officials play a vital role in Rugby and without them, games simply wouldn't go ahead. Congratulations to the TDRURA's Howard Keyes, who this week will represent the QCRRA at the Australian Rugby Shield 2025 (01-05 Oct - Newcastle, NSW).
The Australian Rugby Shield is the pinnacle national XV-a-side community rugby representative tournament, with the best of the best community rugby players from around the country converging for a week-long tournament.
Senior men's and women's teams from QLD Country, NSW Country, QLD Suburban, NSW Suburban, ACT and Southern NSW, Tasmania, South Australia and Defence Forces compete and have the opportunity for talent identification to higher honours.
This tournament also represents the pinnacle in Match Official appointments for community Match Officials. Well done to Howard on his selection. We wish you all the very best for the tournament. Enjoy, and go well with the whistle!
