We are a family orientated field archery club in Townsville, affiliated with ABA. We welcome beginners and families.
We run several New Archer coaching courses each year and visitors can also come for a try most months - bookings required. We are a field archery club which exists to promote the sport of archery, encourage knowledgeable care for the natural bushland we use, and to provide access to information about ethical bowhunting in Australia. We are most interested in inter-generational sharing of our inter
ests, so we welcome families and peoples who, to whatever ability, would like to try archery. We also reach out to the community by offering groups a change to try archery as once-off or regular events. Schools, NDIS, Business groups, even clan and friendship groups and other clubs wanting to do some team-building. We thank our sources of funding which helped us establish our club since 2013:- Grant providers TCC and State Sport and Recreation Department, and Federal Government Stronger Communities program, Gambling Community Benefit Fund, Upper Ross Solar Farm via the Bendigo Community Enterprise Foundation and the many local sponsors who supported us hosting the State ABA titles October 2022! We happily receive donations via the Containers For Change scheme - use our Club Scheme ID C10022612 when returning your containers please. Full Boar Archers’ page exists to provide information about the club’s activities - archery related, club facilities and management. It is also a place for enquires from interested people in the Townsville region. We will respond to enquiries via Facebook, (using the FB Messenger button) however, we recommend you contact the Archery Instructor or Range Captain for the following enquiries:

WORKING BEE this Sunday 29th March from 8am. (Date changed because our scheduled April Bee fell on Easter Saturday.)
Why help?? So we can all enjoy ongoing use of the variety of ranges at our club. AND with 2 working bees under your belt & 13 shoot attendances takes you out of club membership probation. Then you can apply for gate code access 7 days a week.
Examples of what we have to do - you can see we need the numbers!
Mowing - we have one ride-on at the club so If you have another on a trailer we'd
LOVE that, otherwise BYO push mower.
Poisoning Siam w**d - we have one poison sprayer kit, but if you have one to BYO, 2 people could poison. Also poisoning ants to protect containers and practice range users.
Anyone with a battery hedge pruner or long handled battery chainsaw - the overhanging shrubs beside shooting lanes need attention. Also the hill backstop on the 50Meter range.
BYO gurney and hoses (and extension lead) to finish cleaning slime off the practice range concrete.
And if you can't manage heavy work come and learn how to repair the club arrows, and we need the white firing pine re-painted, and we need to check all the vinyl targets to see what we have and need to replace.

For finger shooters. I.e. not using release aids, this is something we can look at on Saturday's club coaching afternoon
"One mistake I learned the hard way was plucking. At one point, I was averaging around a 270 and had even shot two 280s, so I felt pretty confident. This happened around seventh or eighth grade. Then plucking showed up out of nowhere. My scores dropped into the 260s, and I stayed there for much of the next year. It was frustrating because I didn’t know what was wrong at first. When plucking happened, I would release too early, my elbow would twitch, and my arrows went all over the place. I’d look at the target, frustrated, trying to figure out what went wrong.
Once I finally realized plucking was the problem, it all started to make sense. That taught me how important it is to notice mistakes when they happen. If you can figure out what went wrong, you can fix it and stop it from becoming a habit. Archery isn’t just about hitting the 10, it’s about learning how to handle mistakes and getting better every time."
This Sunday's Come'n'Try sessions are now booked out. The next date is March 22nd.
If you are booked in after talking or texting Jennifer, then please wear closed in shoes, and remember sun safety. The area you will be shooting is covered and has fans, but to look at the bush ranges you'll be in the sun.
If you need directions. our pinned post and Info sections of facebook show these. Once inside the gate, latch it again and follow the arrow down a track till you get to cleared parking area. walk the last bit across a small creek.
We look forward to welcoming you and showing you how you really can do archery!
This Sunday Feb 22nd the club opens at 8:30 am for nominations for our 3D round starting 9am.
The 50 meter range is open all morning for members to setup or tune your gear/ practice scoring.
We will be welcoming several people for short Come'n'Try sessions which are all fully booked.

Date claimers for next few working bees - we really need helpers. This Saturday Feb 14th afternoon from 1:30 - we need to mow in prep for Sun 22nd being a come'n'Try day for new archers. Also need more work on the 3D range. We will also be putting up fans on the covered area posts. Lighter duties are also waiting like packing plastic into bales for target butts and wrapping them in shadecloth for UV protection.
Sat March 7th then April 4th are the next ones. Put them in your diary.
These first months of the year we hold more working bees because everything grows!
Then will only call more if required, until August and Sept when we will be sprucing up the club to hold our annual Invitational Shoot.
