Day 3 of the 4 Peaks is another classic - Mt Hotham via Bon Accord track. The course starts with a fast flat trail to Washington Creek before climbing Bon Accord hill, and 'The Wall' before joining the the razorback walk ending just before Diamantina Hut. The highlight is the rewarding and breathtaking view along the razorback walk to the finish. It almost feels like a downhill on that last 2km stretch and is amazing fun on an easy and undulating track to the finish.
The past two editions of the race have had very wet conditions to challenge competitors, and in 2022 we were forced to turn back after 10km near Bon Accord hut site. Lets hope we have better conditions next Monday and we can finish along the amazing Razorback track.

Real athletes use real fruit for real flavour ๐๐๐๐๐
We are proud to announce Skratch Labs are again the nutritional sponsor for the Bright Alpine Climb - 4 Peaks in 2023.
Skratch Labs use real fruit for flavour, never anything artificial. This alleviates GI-distress and flavour fatigue. They eliminate functionless additives like artificial sweeteners and dyes, using only real ingredients like dried fruit powder and cane sugar, for superior taste and performance. You donโt sweat red dye so why drink it?
One of Skratch Labs main considerations in developing their sports drink was to make a product which was absorbed by the gut. One way to enhance this absorption is to control the osmolality of their solution. Osmolality refers basically to the number of molecules dissolved in one kg of fluid. This term is used to describe any bodily fluid or aqueous solution (meaning solutes in water). When comparing two vessels of solution separated by a membrane, water and solutes will flow from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
If a sports drink is more concentrated than blood, there will be difficulty absorbing the necessary nutrients. Conversely, if the drink is less concentrated than blood, solutes and some water can freely flow into the body to be utilized. For this reason, it's important to aim for a drink of equal or lesser concentration than blood.
Food additives such as food dye, preservatives, and non-nutritive sweeteners can increase the osmolarity of the consumed beverage which can impair absorption. This, in conjunction with cited inflammatory effects of these additives make for products that fall short of keeping you hydrated and fueled to your full potential, even on your hardest day.
