To have so many of our teams representing the Wildcats across Finals, Semi Finals, Play-Offs and Grand Finals is something our entire club should be incredibly proud of. (Results can be found in the images)

But finals football is about much more than the result on the scoreboard, It is about earning the opportunity to represent your club when the season is on the line. It is about teammates supporting each other, coaches and managers giving their time, parents and families standing proudly on the side lines, and players giving everything they have for the Wildcats badge.

To every player who pulled on the Woongarrah jersey during this finals series — we are incredibly proud of you.

To our coaches and managers, thank you for the countless hours you have invested in your teams throughout the entire season.

To our parents, families and supporters, thank you for travelling, cheering and getting behind our teams every step of the way.

And congratulations to every team that qualified for finals football. Regardless of where your campaign finished, reaching this stage is an achievement in itself.

Some teams celebrated victories, others experienced the disappointment that comes with finals football but every one of you represented Woongarrah FC with pride.

The results will eventually become part of our club's history.

The friendships, experiences and memories will last much longer.

Woongarrah Wildcats FC is officially inviting Expressions of Interest from players wanting to trial for our 2027 Men’s 1st Grade and Reserve Grade squads.

With Jacob Melling leading our Men’s Squad and AJ Henderson taking charge of Reserve Grade, we’re building a strong, competitive playing group ready to represent the Wildcats in 2027.

We’re looking for players who are committed, competitive and ready to be part of a club focused on development, culture and success both on and off the field.

🔵⚪ 2027 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT | AJ HENDERSON ⚪🔵

Woongarrah FC is proud to announce Ashley “AJ” Henderson as our Men’s Reserve Grade Coach for the 2027 season! 🐾⚽

AJ is certainly no stranger to Woongarrah. For close to a decade he has been part of our club, our senior football program and so many of the great moments and successes we have shared along the way.

A talented attacking player with a natural eye for goal, AJ has represented the Wildcats across BPL, Division 1 and Men’s Premier League football, earning a reputation as one of the club’s most dangerous and consistent attacking players.

🔥 Some of AJ’s Woongarrah achievements include:
⚽ 2023 Division 1 Golden Boot – 20 goals
🏆 2023 Chairman’s Award
⚽ 13 MPL goals in the 2024 regular season, finishing among the competition’s leading goal scorers.

AJ’s contribution to Woongarrah hasn’t only been as a player either. He has previously coached within our junior ranks, including our U13B team in 2018, giving him an understanding of both the playing and coaching side of our club. citeturn540590search28

But statistics only tell part of the story.

AJ understands Woongarrah FC, our culture, our expectations and what it means to pull on the Wildcats shirt. He has been there through the highs, helped create some fantastic memories and has always shown tremendous passion for the club.

Now he begins the next chapter.

In 2027, AJ will take that playing experience, football knowledge and passion into a senior coaching role, working alongside our Men’s Head Coach as we rebuild our senior program and start an exciting new era for Woongarrah FC.

There is something special about seeing one of your own transition from player to coach, and we couldn’t be happier to have AJ taking charge of our Reserve Grade.

🔵⚪ WELCOME JACOB MELLING – MEN’S HEAD COACH 2027 ⚪🔵

Woongarrah FC is extremely proud to announce Jacob Melling as our Men’s Head Coach for the 2027 season.

Jacob is already a familiar face around Woongarrah and Central Coast, someone who knows our club, our players and what it means to wear the Wildcats badge.

Jacob brings with him an outstanding football background and a wealth of experience from the highest levels of the Australian game.

⚽ A graduate of the Australian Institute of Sport
Represented Australia at U17 level
🔴 Began his professional career with Adelaide United
🔵 Went on to play A-League football with Melbourne City
🔴⚫ Western Sydney Wanderers
💛💙 Central Coast Mariners
⚽ Later played with Charlestown Azzurri before becoming an important part of our own senior program.

Jacob joined the Wildcats in 2024, playing a major role in one of the greatest seasons in our club’s history as Woongarrah became 2024 MPL First Grade League Champions — incredibly, in our first season back in the MPL after promotion.

He returned again in 2025, continuing to be a major presence in our First Grade side with his leadership, quality on the ball and trademark set pieces. During those two seasons, our senior squad also added the 2025 First Grade Association Cup to the club’s history.

Now Jacob takes the next step with Woongarrah.

From player to Head Coach. 💙

After sitting out senior football in 2026, our focus has always been on returning in 2027 with the right people, the right culture and a clear long-term direction.

Jacob knows where this club has been, he understands where we want to go, and most importantly he shares our ambition to build a senior program that our juniors can aspire to be part of.

There is plenty of work ahead as Jacob begins building his squad and putting his own stamp on the next chapter of senior football at Woongarrah FC.

We couldn’t be more excited to have him leading the way.
