What a morning at Ocean Beach SLSC last Sunday!

While CoastFM broadcasted LIVE from the OBSLSC Deck, our Nippers were out enjoying their first morning back in the waves — the perfect start to the season.

Across the morning some of our clubbies shared key messages on CoastFM about beach safety, community defib access, youth leadership through Junior Lifesaver of the Year, and the many ways people can get involved in surf lifesaving. From youth to Silver Salties, patrolling, water safety, beach community education and important roles within SLS.

A huge thank you to Wayne, Chayne and Di and the CoastFM crew for helping us spread these messages across the Central Coast, and a special thank you to our local State MP Liesl Tesch for joining us and lending her support.

RAISING OF THE FLAGS

A beautiful sunny morning yesterday at Toowoon Bay for the Raising of the Flags, officially marking the start of the Surf Life Saving Central Coast 2026/27 patrol season.

Ocean Beach was proudly represented by some of our amazing Rookies, Harrison and Allara, who joined members from across the Central Coast to celebrate the beginning of another season of keeping our beaches safe.

This year’s ceremony was extra special for OB, with Piper and Will continuing in their Junior Lifesaver of the Year (JLOTY) roles. They were given the honour of opening the ceremony with the Acknowledgement of Country, before taking part in the official raising of the red and yellow flags on behalf of Surf Life Saving Central Coast, a truly meaningful way to begin the new patrol season.

Thank you to all our dedicated patrol members across the Central Coast and to our incredible team at Ocean Beach SLSC who will once again ensure our beaches are safe for everyone who visits.

With the flags now raised, the 2026/27 season is officially open.

Commemorative Service – 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan

A Commemorative Service will be held this Sunday, 16 August 2026, to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.
The Service will commence at 11.00am at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Ettalong Beach.

All members and members of the wider community are encouraged to attend and pay their respects to those who served and sacrificed.
