🪂 ONE Man, 200 Jumps, ONE Day 🪂

In two weeks’ time, Queensland skydiver Kristan Fischer is aiming to complete 200 skydives in a single day, raising funds for Little Haven Palliative Care and attempting to set a new Australian record.

Now, to many of you this might sound crazy — so let’s talk logistics.

Topic #3: Timings & Turnarounds ⏱️

Fitting 200 jumps into a single day certainly isn’t an easy feat, with timing, logistics and endurance all playing a huge part.

To allow enough time to achieve this monumental task, Kristan and his crew of 59 volunteers (and counting) are planning to start operations at first light in Queensland, at a local time of 4:43am.

The target turnaround time is 3 minutes and 30 seconds per jump, including the expected 1-minute climb to exit height in the R44 and R22 helicopters. Kristan’s landing accuracy will directly affect this turnaround, but luckily he’s always been a gun in this department. He earned his Display Pro rating back in 2017 with just 190 jumps to his name and has loved the accuracy challenge ever since 🎯

Based on the target turnaround time alone, you can estimate how long the attempt might take. However, Kristan, Tim Stevens (Head of Operations) and the crew are prepared to keep going for as long as it takes. As with any challenge of this scale, things could run ahead of schedule or take longer than expected, but the team is ready to continue jumping into the night using the Cessna 210 if needed.

With volunteer packers, ground crew, pilots, gear runners, record keepers, judges, BBQ cooks, aircraft refuellers, filming and media teams, general coordinators, area marshals, and even banana peelers, one thing’s for sure: it will be all hands on deck, with heaps of bananas being consumed! 🍌

Next week we’ll discuss gear and packers.

🪂 ONE Man, 200 Jumps, ONE Day 🪂

In three week’s time, Queensland skydiver Kristan Fischer is aiming to complete 200 skydives in a single day, raising funds for Little Haven Palliative Care and attempting to set a new Australian record.

Now, to many of you this might sound crazy — so let’s talk logistics.

Topic #2: Exit altitude 🚁⬆️🛩️

In order to complete as many jumps as possible in the 24 hour window available, Kristan will be exiting the aircraft at 2,300ft AGL, with his parachute fully open above 2,000ft on every jump.

The R44 and R22 helicopters will take approximately 1 minute to reach this altitude throughout the day, and the Cessna 210 will be ready for night operations as required.

Next week we’ll discuss expected turnaround times, ground procedures and ground crew.
