CELEBRATING 100 YEARS SINCE STURT'S 1926 PREMIERSHIP

This Sunday, as the Double Blues take on North Adelaide at home, we celebrate 100 years since one of the defining moments in Sturt Football Club history, our third SANFL premiership.

After finishing as Minor Premiers in 1926, Sturt met North Adelaide in the Grand Final. In a fiercely contested match, the Double Blues won every quarter to claim a memorable 9.10 (64) to 7.9 (51) victory, securing the Club's third premiership.

Jack Smith and Gordon Scrutton each kicked three goals, with Reg Whitehead, Norm Barron and Horrie Riley also finding the scoreboard.

Among Sturt's best were Vic Richardson, Captain-Coach Frank Golding, brothers Gordon and Clarrie Scrutton, Horrie Riley, Jack Smith, Harold McGaffin and Norm Barron.

The triumph marked a third premiership for both Vic Richardson and Frank Golding, a feat that would not be matched by another Sturt footballer for 42 years.

The 1926 premiership also began a remarkable tradition, with years ending in "6" proving memorable for the Double Blues, delivering premiership success in 1926, 1966, 1976 and 2016.

As we welcome North Adelaide back to Unley Oval this Sunday, we proudly honour the champions of 1926 and celebrate the rich history that continues to inspire the Double Blues today.

One Club. One History. Forever Double Blue.
