Pembroke Old Scholars Soccer Club

Congratulations to Carmine Perrotta who this week plays his 200th POSSC match - a fantastic achievement! Carmine joined the club in 2014 and quickly established himself as a much loved member of the playing group.

He has scored 113 goals over the journey and was a key member of the 2015 and 2016 CSL Division 1B Championship teams. Carmine also played key roles in the 2015 and 2019 Collegiate Cup winning teams by scoring the sealers in both finals, coupled with two iconic celebrations.

We will be celebrating Carmine’s achievement in the POSSC Division 5 on Saturday September 5 against Eastern United - 4pm KO at Athelstone Recreation Reserve.

A massive congratulations to Lucas Gunn who this weekend becomes the 10th player in POSSC history to reach the 300 match milestone!

Since making his club debut in 2009, Lucas has won 3 pieces of silverware - the 2019 Collegiate Cup, as well as the 2017 (Captain) and 2018 CSL Division 3 Championships. He was the also the winner of the 2020 B-Grade and 2014 D-Grade POSSC Best and Fairest awards.

Lucas has been a pillar of the club off-field, serving as B-Grade coach in 2024, in addition to being Squads Manager in 2022 and 2023. He also was the recipient of the ‘Ross Callow Award for Service to POSSC’ in 2023. He has also featured in many EOSD masterpieces over the years! In addition to all this, Lucas is a much loved and respected figure at our sister club, Pembroke Old Scholars Women’s Soccer Club, where he very successfully served as Head Coach for multiple years.

It is very fitting that Lucas’ milestone will be celebrated this Saturday August 22 on Community Day - 11am KO at Park 17. On behalf of everyone at POSSC, congratulations Lucas!

A big congratulations to Zak Mildren who this weekend plays his 300th match for POSSC, becoming the 9th player in club history to reach this milestone.

Over his 17 years at the club, Zak has won 7 pieces of silverware which consists of one Division 1A CSL Championship, one Collegiate Cup, two Division 1B CSL Championships (Vice-Captain in both), two Division 3 CSL Championships and one Division 4 CSL Championship. He also won the POSSC B-Grade Best and Fairest in 2019.

He is a much loved and respected member of the community having served as an assistant coach, squads manager and committee member. He was also the recipient of the 2017 ‘Ross Callow Award for Service to POSSC’.

We will be celebrating Zak’s achievement in the Collegiate Cup Semi-Final (2.30pm KO @ Karinya Reserve). On behalf of everyone at POSSC, congratulations Zak!

To recognise National Reconciliation Week, our A-Grade side wore a specially designed kit in their CSL Cup against Cardijn on Saturday. A big thank you goes to James Stevens (former Federal Member for Sturt), the Department of Industry, Science and Resources, Pega Sports and Pembroke School, especially Amanda Bourchier, Vince Ciccarello and Will Cutts, for their contribution to the project. The kits will also be worn during NAIDOC Week in July 🐥

On Wednesday evening, the Pembroke Old Scholars Soccer Club faced the Pembroke School First-XI in their annual pre-season friendly. In a competitive and high-tempo match, the POSSC ran out convincing 6–1 winners.

Pembroke’s Head of Soccer, Adriano Pellegrino, said the match provided strong preparation for both sides.

“The game was intense but played in great spirits. It was a valuable hit-out for both teams as we head into our respective seasons.”

The club looks forward to welcoming members of the Class of 2026 into the Old Scholars ranks in the years ahead.

We’re back 😤 Pre-season starts 6.15pm Wednesday January 14 at Park 17! Training will continue every Monday and Wednesday. We look forward to seeing both new and returning players and will be hosting a free BBQ after training to kick off the new year 🐥
