As some of you may be aware there was a recent dog attack in South Australia where a 2 year old girl was mauled by the families Boerboel. This event sent the media into a frenzy, and it also saw a Vet interviewed who was demanding the breed be banned.

𝘓𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 - 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘨𝘰 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘰𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘥, 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺, 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 🙏

Now lets discuss the real problem which is 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗕𝗔𝗡𝗦 𝗗𝗢𝗡'𝗧 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞!!! - and this is something we can prove statistically following attempts to implement 𝗕𝗦𝗟 (Breed Specific Legislation) which targeted Pitbulls.

𝘚𝘰 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘰𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘺𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥?

𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗠𝗨𝗖𝗛 𝗔𝗧 𝗔𝗟𝗟... And that makes these cases extremely difficult to accurately assess from a dog behaviour point of view. Will the dog be temperament tested by a leading industry professional in the field of aggression? 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹𝘆, and the truth is the dog has probably already been euthanased which leaves us with 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 to study and learn from. In previous cases such as this Mike's close friend and mentor Steve Courtney @ K9Pro has offered his services for FREE to assess and provide details about who these dogs really are; 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀, 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱, 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗸... 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆? We don't really know, and that's a massive gap to be missing in the whole investigation process!

𝘛𝘰 𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦, 𝘚𝘵𝘦𝘷𝘦'𝘴 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 😞

Should the dog be euthanased? In my professional opinion YES, because any dog that inflicts serious injury to a person, a child, or another animal is not welcome in our society. If a dog attacks, and the intent of that animal is to try and kill a person, then I'm sorry those dogs have no place within our community.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻'𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘂𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.

Are some breeds of dogs more capable of doing damage and genetically predisposed to being aggressive? ABSOLUTELY, but this is where we need to look at who is breeding these dogs, and who is selling them to the people who can't keep them responsibly which impacts everyone.

In a vast majority of cases when this happens there almost always seems to be the same common denominator... 𝗔 𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗢𝗙 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧... not training (yes that matters too), but what I'm talking about is supervising children and dogs. And as father, and Dogfather of 3 male Rottweilers I can tell you our in-home management is of the highest level. Because that's what keeps 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘!

𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘢𝘧𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘭𝘴𝘰 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘬𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘧𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘴... 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙎 𝙄𝙎 𝙒𝙃𝙀𝙍𝙀 𝙒𝙀 𝙉𝙀𝙀𝘿 𝙏𝙊 𝘽𝙀 𝘼𝙏!
