There has been considerable discussion, speculation and, unfortunately, some misleading information circulating on social media regarding Football Queensland's new Competition Access Fee (CAF) model for 2027.
At Mt Gravatt Hawks, we believe our members deserve facts, not headlines, selective percentages or speculation.
๐ฆ๐ข, ๐ช๐๐๐ง ๐๐ข๐๐ฆ ๐ง๐๐๐ฆ ๐๐๐ง๐จ๐๐๐๐ฌ ๐ ๐๐๐ก ๐๐ข๐ฅ ๐๐๐ช๐๐ฆ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ฆ?
Our preliminary analysis indicates that while the Football Queensland component of registration fees will increase by approximately 40โ50%, this does not mean Hawks families will be paying 40โ50% more to play football.
In fact, based on our current modelling, the impact on overall Hawks registration fees is ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐
๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ ๐ณโ๐ต%, before any additional adjustments to club fees.
That is a very different picture from some of the alarming figures being circulated publicly by the media and certain groups within the football community.
๐๐ข ๐ช๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฃ๐ฃ๐ข๐ฅ๐ง ๐ง๐๐ ๐ก๐๐ช ๐ ๐ข๐๐๐?
We support the principle of moving towards a Competition Access Fee model, which has the potential to deliver meaningful benefits for clubs and participants, including:
* Simplified registration and competition enrolment processes.
* Greater flexibility to move players between competitions.
* Reduced administration for clubs and volunteers.
* Greater flexibility for clubs to offer payment plans to families.
* Improved competition management and participant experience.
However, supporting the model does not mean we necessarily agree with the proposed fee increases.
We believe Football Queensland needs to provide greater transparency around how the fees have been calculated, particularly the assumptions regarding squad sizes and player numbers.

One of the biggest problems with the current public debate is the assumption that every football club operates under the same financial model.
They don't.
Clubs have different registration fees, squad sizes, operating costs and levels of investment in their programs.
At the Hawks, our junior registration fees are generally between $๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ $๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฑ, reflecting our commitment to affordable, accessible community football.
We also froze our registration fees in 2026, despite increasing operating costs.
Comparing isolated percentages without considering the total cost to families does little to help members understand the real impact.

We will continue to assess the proposed 2027 fees carefully, including any necessary adjustments to meet increasing operating costs.
Some 2027 fee components are also yet to be confirmed, so our modelling remains preliminary.
What we won't do is contribute to unnecessary alarm or speculation.
We will provide our members with clear, accurate information about 2027 registration fees once our budgets and fee structures are finalised.
The Hawks believe in constructive discussion, transparency and decisions based on facts, not social media headlines.
Our priority remains unchanged: keeping football affordable, accessible and enjoyable for our community.
