💙 HELPING PEOPLE FIND THEIR PEOPLE 💙

As part of the Fleurieu Future Leaders Program, we were split into syndicate groups and we were asked to create something that would help genuinely benefits our community.

Our group kept coming back to one simple idea — connection.

There are so many incredible community groups, volunteer organisations, services, clubs and passionate people across the Fleurieu. But sometimes the hardest part is simply knowing what’s out there and how to find your people.

So we created the Victor Harbor Community Connection Expo — a day designed to bring everyone together in one place. 🙌

Whether you’re looking to volunteer, meet new people, discover a local service, support a cause, learn something new or simply feel a little more connected to where you live — this event is for you.

I don’t normally use our business page to talk about things like this, but I feel like something needs to be said.

The constant stream of frightening headlines about animals washing up on South Australian beaches is starting to have a real impact on people.

Every dead animal seems to become another alarming headline. Tests are being carried out, possibilities are being investigated and of course anything concerning public health or our wildlife should be taken seriously.

But there’s a big difference between reporting the facts and creating fear before those facts are known.

I know people who are now scared to even take their pets to the beach. And with the school holidays approaching, I can only imagine how many families are wondering whether they should stay away from our beautiful coastline altogether.

That has consequences.

Victor Harbor is full of small businesses, cafés, attractions, accommodation providers and families who rely on visitors coming to our region. We deserve accurate, balanced reporting not headlines designed to make people frightened enough to click.

If authorities issue warnings or restrictions, absolutely report them. Tell us the facts. Tell us what precautions we should take. But until then, please give people the full story and allow the experts doing the testing to do their jobs.

Victor Harbor is still the incredible place we all know and love. ❤️

Come down. Support local. Enjoy our town, our businesses and our coastline and follow the official advice from the authorities rather than letting a scary headline make the decision for you.

Hi, I’m Barry-Dean Dewson, aka Baz!
I’m a local business owner in Victor Harbor and the guy behind Chop It Axe Throwing, Escape It Rooms and Explore It Scavenger Hunt. The number one rated business in South Australia and Winner of the Business of the year Awards Victor Harbor.

I’ve always loved creating things that bring people together whether that’s through fun, challenges, or just giving people a reason to switch off and enjoy the moment. My path’s been a bit different, living with dyslexia and learning by doing, but it’s taught me resilience, creativity, and how to think outside the box. My biggest success, though, is my family, two amazing children and my incredibly supportive wife, who’ve been there through every step of the journey. I’m really looking forward to being part of the FFLP program, meeting great people, and continuing to grow both personally and professionally.
