Happy New Year to everyone who follows Wagga Marine - couple of days late but it’s the 1st I’ve had time to say g’day, hope each of you achieve your goals this year, whether that be bucket list fish - one of mine is a metre plus Barra - upgrade your boat/motor, do a little more fishing - that’s on the list EVERY year or just spend more time with the family. G’day all, was lucky enough to go for a fish with a couple of VERY good fishermen on the weekend - I’ll call them Sensei and Grasshopper - not only good fishermen but good blokes as well, anyway we went to the Bidgee west of Wagga leaving Wagga at 05:30 and on the water around 06:30. Yes it was relatively fresh to say the least with fog and light drizzly rain, not the nicest of weather but you can’t catch fish in your backyard anyway Fished with surface lures till about an hour after sunup to no avail then changed to spinnerbaits and it wasn’t long till we started catching a couple. Grasshopper and the average fishermen - me - were going pretty good for the conditions with a water temperature of 11.2 degrees and an ambient temperature of around 8 degrees. Not going to bore you with all the details but for the day we caught and released 14 cod, 1 trouty & 1 Yella, we dropped about 9, grasshopper caught 11 the average fisherman caught 4 and you can work out the rest. All the fish were very healthy and heavy and ranged from 30cm - 70cm, all in all a great day for the time of year with grasshopper being BOG for the day.
Needless to say sensei wanted redemption so he and grasshopper heading out again on Sunday, this time East of Wagga, yes I was again invited but unfortunately had to deliver a boat to a customer, anyway long story short 5 fish caught and released & 9 missed after a later start with grasshopper catching 5 and you can work out the rest, all fish - cod & trouties - between 50cm & 70cm and once again grasshopper BOG.

So don’t park your boat when the weather isn’t as nice as you would like it, get it out and make your own memories

Putting my VERY trusty 50Honda EFI outboad on the market, yep have repowered my boat so now the 50hp is up for sale, has just been fully serviced with tappets adjusted, impeller, HP fuel filter, oil filter and all oils replaced.

Have just traded a couple of motors so if anyone is looking for any of the following - Honda 20hp short shaft, electric start, gas assist, tiller control
Honda 50hp long shaft, PTT, electric start, forward controls or tiller EFI
Honda 75hp long shaft, PTT, electric Start, forward controls EFI
These motors have around the 300 - 400 hrs, late models and are in good condition and will have a full service performed on them.
