The future of Country Victorian basketball is bright!

Congratulations to the 240 young athletes selected for the 2026 Under-12 Country Jamboree, taking place in Echuca from 19-22 September, 2026.

This is the first step on the Basketball Victoria Country Pathway for selected athletes, and an exciting opportunity to represent their region, develop their game and create lifelong memories.

Congratulations also to each athlete who took part in this year's Country U12 Skills Days.

Nominations are now open for the 2026 Wallan Basketball Annual Awards.

MALE & FEMALE SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS

We’re seeking one female and one male junior player from our domestic or representative basketball programs who consistently:

• Show a positive attitude and give their best
• Encourage and support their teammates
• Respect opponents, referees and the rules
• Accept wins, losses and referee decisions with maturity
• Demonstrate kindness and outstanding sportsmanship on and off the court

Please note: Parents and guardians cannot nominate their own child for a Sportsmanship Award.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD

This award recognises someone who made a significant volunteer contribution to WBI between 1 October 2025 and 30 September 2026 through:

• Outstanding commitment to the Wallan Basketball community
• Reliability, positivity, flexibility and initiative
• Generously giving their personal time
• Living the Wallan Basketball culture and values

Current WBI Board and Committee members are not eligible for the Volunteer of the Year Award.

To nominate, email the person’s name, award category and the reasons they deserve recognition to [email protected].

Nominations close Friday 9 October.

All three award recipients will be assessed and selected by the WBI Board.

Every game has a story bigger than the scoreboard.

This October, Wallan Basketball is proudly partnering with our sponsor, Buxton, to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.

Our pink basketball shorts are now available to pre-order, with all domestic players invited to wear them during their October games once they arrive.
