🏆 Introducing Club Person of the Year for 2026 – Giselle! 🏆

What an impact one person can make in a single season!

Giselle joined Wantirna South this year and immediately jumped in to coach one team and co-coach two others. She’s quickly become a much-loved part of our club, bringing her warm and caring approach, passion for netball and infectious laugh and sense of humour to everything she does.

But it’s the growth and development of her players that really stands out. Giselle creates an environment where players feel supported, build confidence, develop their skills and are encouraged to be the best they can be. Her genuine care for each player shines through, both on and off the court.

We’re so lucky to have Giselle as part of the WSNC family. Thank you for everything you’ve brought to the club this season and for the positive impact you’ve already made on so many players.

Congratulations, Giselle! A very deserving Club Person of the Year! 🙌

Club Person of the Year is an award that recognises those whose dedication, passion, and commitment bring lasting value to our club, often behind the scenes and without the spotlight. This award is to celebrate individuals who embody one or more of our club values – enjoyment and love of the game, player development, inclusivity, and competitive spirit – and who make a positive impact on the fabric of our club.

Club members can nominate individuals for the award, with the committee determining the winner each year.

A huge thank you to everyone nominated for this award. Your contributions, big and small, help make our club what it is, and your impact is so valued. 💚🏐

👀🏐 HOW TO SPOT A NETBALL DAD 🏐👀

Here are the tell-tale signs…

📣 The distinctive cry of “SHOOT! SHOOT!” — yelled at full volume approximately 0.4 seconds after the ball enters the goal third, or their child takes possession (regardless of whether they are playing goals or not).

🗣️ Has strong opinions. About umpiring, coaching, wet weather policies, player performance — and isn’t shy about sharing them.

🏐 Shows up every week ready to provide tactical advice from the sidelines, between quarters or after the game — whether it was requested or not 😋

🏆 Celebrates an intercept like they just won the grand final.

🧠 Knows the rules. Or at least has a very convincing theory about what the rules should be.

✅ Keeps a running score in his head — and somehow knows exactly how many goals are needed to win and how many minutes are left in the quarter.

And finally…

💚 Might be competitive on the sidelines, but is always their player’s biggest fan.

We’re lucky to have so many passionate, competitive and slightly biased Dads across our teams. We love the vibes each of you bring to the courts each week!

Happy Father’s Day to all our WSNC netball Dads! 🏐💚

🏆2026 CLUB CHAMPION | JESS EARL 🏆

Congratulations to our 2026 Club Champion, Jess Earl of A Res Sandpipers!

Jess has been part of WSNC for around 20 years, taking a little time out along the way have her two beautiful children.

Jess had a standout season, excelling in no less than three different positions- GK, GD and WD. Her work rate and effort are amongst the highest in the club. On and off the court, Jess is always a positive and calming influence to her team mates and coach!

Congratulations Jess — a thoroughly deserved honour! 👏

🏐 DID YOU KNOW?
Our Club Champion is the highest accolade a player can receive. The winner is determined by the Best & Fairest votes awarded throughout the season, with every player in a competitive team eligible.

To ensure a fair comparison across teams, a player’s total votes are divided by the number of games played by their team, accounting for byes and cancelled matches. This gives an average points-per-game score for each player.

🏆 Congratulations Jess — WSNC Club Champion 2026!
