🐝 Shoalwater Physio Hornets Colts – Two-Game T20 Wrap-Up 🟒🟑

Game 1: A thrilling tie against MUMCC Colts!

The Hornets bowled first and put in a strong performance with the ball, restricting MUMCC Colts to 7/94 from 20 overs. Jacob Langley led the way with an excellent spell of 2/14, while Patrick Greening also claimed two wickets for 18 runs. Dylan Armstrong and Logan Walters picked up a wicket each, helping keep the opposition to a manageable total.

In reply, the Hornets fought hard in a tense run chase after losing early wickets, finishing on 9/94 to tie the match. Cody Irvine top-scored with 18, while Jacob Langley contributed 16. Patrick Greening (11*) and Logan Walters (3*) remained unbeaten at the end as the Hornets matched the opposition's total in a nail-biting finish.

Result: Match tied – Hornets 9/94 vs MUMCC Colts 7/94.

Game 2: Five-run thriller against White Knights Baldivis Colts

Batting first, the Hornets put together an impressive 4/140 from 20 overs, led by a brilliant unbeaten innings from captain Alex Rutherford. His 66* off 59 balls, including four boundaries and a six, anchored the innings beautifully. Dylan Armstrong provided an explosive contribution with 21 off 16 balls, including two MASSIVE sixes, while Jacob Langley added a valuable 16 from 16 deliveries.

The Hornets then took to the field determined to defend their total. White Knights Baldivis Colts made a strong effort in the chase, but the Hornets kept taking crucial wickets and applied pressure throughout the innings. Logan Walters finished as our highest wicket taker with 2/31 while Jacob Langley, Patrick Greening, Harrison Noller and Daniel Kelly each picked up a wicket.

The Hornets held their nerve to restrict White Knights to 8/135, securing a hard-fought five-run victory.

Result: Hornets won by 5 runs – Hornets 4/140 defeated White Knights Baldivis Colts 8/135.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, the girls wasted NO time getting runs on the board!

🏏 Olivia McSweeney put on an absolute clinic, retiring on 102 off 96 balls!

🏏 Alyse Aldridge clearly wasn’t planning on going anywhere, carrying her bat through the entire innings to finish on 108 off 121!*

🏏 Leah chipped in with a handy 21 runs, helping the girls post a HUGE 267! πŸ”₯

With 267 to defend, it was time to let the ball do the talking! 🎯

πŸ”₯ Ariana wasted absolutely NO time, striking in the very first over and finishing with 1/35 off 3!

πŸ”₯ Debutant Scarlett Walters took the new ball from the other end and showed everyone what she’s made of, claiming 2/34 off 6!

🏏 MINESITE MAINTENANCE HORNETS START SEASON WITH 44-RUN VICTORY! πŸπŸ’šπŸ’›

The Minesite Maintenance Hornets have come away with a fantastic 44-run win over Mandurah at Stan Twight Reserve!

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Hornets posted a massive 8/243, putting the pressure on MCC from the outset.

Captain Jett Goard led from the front with a superb 56 off 106 balls, while Adam Worlley contributed an important 41 off 55. David Walters provided a valuable late-innings boost with 36 off just 19 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes. Rhys Carr (27 off 28), Alex Rutherford (18) and Josh Forknall (16) also chipped in to help the Hornets reach a commanding total.

With the ball, the Hornets backed up their batting performance with a strong team effort. Josh Forknall got things started, claiming 3/49 from 10 overs, while Adam Worlley picked up 2/14 from 5.2 overs to finish it all off but it was all about Logan Walters who took his first A grade 5fa, finishing with 5/30 from 10 overs, changing the game and stepping up when the team needed him most!

MCC were restricted to 199 all out, handing the Hornets a well-deserved 44-run victory!

⭐ Sophie Noller (14 years old)
Stepping up to A Grade at just 14, Sophie came in at number 4, finishing 1* off 1 ball, and kept wickets like an absolute CHAMP! πŸ§€πŸ‘ We can’t wait to see what she achieves this season!

⭐ Scarlett Walters (14 years old)
Another young gun making her A Grade debut! Scarlett took the new ball and delivered an impressive 2/34 off 6 overs! 🎯πŸ”₯ Safe to say we’re excited to see what she can do with the ball this season!
