Ever wondered how an event actually works? 🤔
Want to understand the rules a little better?
Or simply feel more confident helping out at your club or Zone events?

These sessions are for YOU! 🙌

Central Coast Zone Athletics is running a series of relaxed Officials Training Afternoons and we’d love to see people from across our clubs getting involved.

And before you think “But I don't want to be an official every weekend!” — you don't have to! 😂

👉 This is about expanding your knowledge, learning how events work and giving you the confidence to lend a hand when you can.

Athletics is run by volunteers, and many hands make light work — and shorter shifts! 🙌

👋 WHO IS IT FOR?

Anyone aged 14+ who would like to learn more about officiating and different events.

You don't need any previous experience and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions, have a go and learn in a relaxed environment.

💡 For our 14-18 year-olds: At actual competitions, anyone aged 14-18 would be paired with an experienced official, so you'll never be expected to do it alone.

🏃 20 September — TRACK
📍 Mingara Athletics Track
⏰ 3:00–5:00pm

🥏 27 September — THROWS
📍 Gosford
⏰ 3:00–5:00pm

🏃‍♀️ 4 October — JUMPS
📍 Gosford
⏰ 3:00–5:00pm

And of course… we need real athletes! 😂

If you're coming along to learn, bring your athletes with you and they can get some extra practice in while you learn the ropes.

Officials Development – An Opportunity to Learn & Get Involved 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

As we look ahead to the new season, there is a strong focus on developing more officials and building confidence within our clubs.
There will be Officials Development sessions planned for September, covering:
🏃 Track
💪 Throws
🦘 Jumps
Dates and further details are still to be confirmed, but we wanted to share the information early for anyone who may be interested in getting involved.
These sessions will be practical, hands-on and focused on learning. They are not assessments, but an opportunity to build your knowledge, ask questions and gain confidence in officiating.
If you have ever thought about becoming an accredited official, these sessions are a great place to start and will help you understand the different areas of officiating and what is involved.

Completing Parts A and B is required to become an NSW official at State level.
We’d love to encourage our families to consider putting their hand up. You don’t need to already have experience — you just need to be willing to learn! 🙌
Developing more officials helps us:
✅ Build a stronger pool of experienced officials
✅ Create more opportunities for accreditation
✅ Develop future Chiefs and experienced officials
✅ Support succession planning
✅ Help our clubs become more self-sufficient

If you're new to athletics or still on the fence, we encourage you to come along and trial the first two weeks before registering to make sure it's the right fit for your family.

Please note that all registrations are non-refundable, so taking advantage of the trial nights is a great way to give it a go with no pressure.
