HEART OF A WARRIOR πŸ”΄βš« 36–24 down. Thirty-seven seconds on the clock. Season over. Except our U12.1 girls didn't get the memo.

Sienna Robertson knocked down three free throws. Eliza Biorci added another. Phoebe Moriarty went 2, 2, 1, 2 in a blur. Then Georgia Schembri buried the bucket that tied it at 36 with nothing left on the clock. A 12–0 run to force overtime in a VJL2 semi final.

Overtime finished 38–38 after Phoebe iced two more from the line. Pakenham finally got clear in the second OT to take it 48–40, and credit to them β€” they earned it.

But look at that scoresheet. 16 points for Phoebe, 7 each for Eliza and Georgia, Amy Child's 4 in the second quarter to keep us level, and every player on that sheet with a foul drawn, a stop made or a free throw sunk when it mattered.

That's what a season in VJL2 built. Not the result β€” the refusal.

Proud isn't a big enough word. πŸ₯Ή

Melbourne United is bringing United for Her to Warragul. πŸ’™ On Wednesday 23 September, girls aged 6–18 from right across our region can come down to Warragul Leisure Centre for a free basketball clinic, led by experienced female coaches.

There are two sessions:

- Come & Try, girls 6–11, 9:00–10:30am β€” for girls who are new to the game or have only played a little.
- Skill Development, girls 12–18, 10:30am–12:30pm β€” for girls who are already playing and want to sharpen up.

Every girl goes home with a United for Her t-shirt, a basketball and a drink bottle. It's completely free, and you don't need to be a WBA member or play for a club β€” every girl in the region is welcome.

Places are limited and registration is essential. Full details, session times and registration for both clinics:

Huge thanks to Melbourne United Basketball Club for bringing the program to Gippsland, and to Play Our Way for supporting it.

πŸ–€ THANK YOU, WARRAGUL. Thank you to every single person who walked through the doors of the Warragul Leisure Centre this season. Every person who bought a membership, grabbed a ticket, wore a scarf, bought a pair of socks, cheered from the stands or followed along online. You made this season something truly special.

Our 2026 campaign came to an end on Saturday night against a strong Sherbrooke side in the Semi Final. We're proud of every moment. πŸ–€

Thank you to our sponsors β€” SJD Homes, Warragul Physiotherapy and Voyage Fitness Warragul β€” whose support made Big V basketball in Warragul possible.

Thank you to Ben Gaze, James Portbury and Michael Bridgman for building and leading this group with everything they had.

And thank you to our players. Every single one of them. This group gave Warragul something to be genuinely proud of. πŸ–€

We came back to Big V Basketball after an extended absence. We won our first home game. We went on a six-game winning streak. We made finals. We won an Elimination Final. We played in a Semi Final.

Year one. What a ride. 😀

We'll see you in 2027. πŸ€πŸ–€β€οΈ
