𝐆𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝟖𝟑 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠.
Gwenda grew up on a farm and has always lived a pretty active life. She’s also trained at a few different gyms around Warrnambool over the years.
About three years ago, she came to Body Blitzer with a group of friends and they’ve been training together ever since, usually followed by a coffee afterwards.
At almost 83, Gwenda still gardens, travels and is involved in community work.
She also has arthritis and osteoporosis, along with a few issues with her knee and glute, so there are things we need to work around with her training.
For Gwenda, staying active is about being able to keep doing the things she enjoys and maintaining her independence as she gets older.
I think there’s a good lesson in that for anyone over 50 who knows they probably need to start doing something but keeps putting it off because they’re nervous or don’t know where to begin.
You don’t need to do anything crazy.
You just need to start somewhere and find something you can keep doing.
If you’ve been following us for a while and you’re not sure how to get started, send me a message. Happy to have a chat.

If you’re over 60 and nervous about starting strength training, you’re not alone.
One of the biggest concerns we hear is:
“I’m scared I’ll injure myself.”
That’s why the right coaching makes such a difference.
You don’t need to know what exercises to do or how much you should lift.
We start you at a level that suits your ability, guide you through each exercise and gradually build your strength and confidence.
For many of our members, the hardest part was simply walking through the door.
Once they started, they realised training wasn’t nearly as scary as they thought.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐁𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐳𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐲𝐦?
It really comes down to what you’re looking for.
If you’re confident training on your own, know what exercises to do and can stay consistent, a lower-cost gym membership may be all you need.
Body Blitzer is designed for something different.
Many of the people we work with have never trained before. Others haven’t exercised in years, have physical limitations or simply don’t feel confident figuring everything out on their own.
That’s where our coaching comes in.
At a traditional gym, you’re largely responsible for deciding what to do once you walk through the door.
At Body Blitzer, that’s where our job starts.
Our coaches help you know what to do, how to do it properly and how to train at a level that suits you. We can adapt exercises when needed and help you build a routine you can actually stick with.
The goal isn’t to turn you into a hardcore gym person.
It’s to help you get stronger, move better, have more energy and stay active and independent for as long as possible.
A traditional gym gives you access to a place to train. Body Blitzer gives you the coaching and support to help you get the most out of your training.
That’s why comparing the two purely on price doesn’t tell the whole story.
If you’ve been putting off getting started because you’re not sure what to do or don’t feel confident doing it alone, send our page a message.
We’d be happy to show you how we can help.

𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭! 👏
A few years ago, Pauline’s daughter, who is a Personal Trainer, encouraged her to give the gym a go.
Pauline will be the first to tell you she’s never really been a “gym person”.
She wasn’t looking to lose weight or completely change her lifestyle. She simply wanted to stay active, keep her bones strong and maintain her balance as she got older.
So she started training once or twice a week and has kept at it.
That consistency really showed its value when Pauline needed a knee replacement.
After surgery, she spent around eight weeks away from the gym focusing on her recovery and physio before gradually returning to training. Having already been active and building her strength beforehand gave her a great foundation to work from.
Now she’s back training and continuing to do the things she enjoys outside the gym too.
She walks her dog every day, spends plenty of time looking after her grandchildren and wants to keep herself active and capable for the years ahead.
She also enjoys the social side of coming in. Having a chat, seeing familiar faces and being part of the group has become just as important as the exercise itself.
Pauline’s never needed to become someone who loves the gym.
For her, it’s simply a place she comes once or twice a week to look after herself, stay strong and keep doing the things she enjoys.
Well done Pauline. It’s great having you as part of Body Blitzer Community. 🙏

Feeling a bit stiff or tight after training?
One thing that often gets overlooked when it comes to exercise is taking the time to work on your mobility and recovery.
That’s why we’ve recently introduced a Stretch & Recovery class every Saturday morning from 8:05 to 8:35am.
As we get older, maintaining our flexibility and range of motion becomes increasingly important. It can make a big difference to how comfortably we move and feel day to day.
Strength training is fantastic for building and maintaining strength, but it’s also important to spend some time looking after how well your body moves.
Regular stretching and mobility work can help:
✔ Maintain flexibility and range of motion
✔ Loosen up areas that feel tight
✔ Improve how comfortably you move
✔ Help your body feel better between training sessions
Don’t worry if you’re not very flexible either. That’s exactly what the class is there to help with.
The class is gentle, easy to follow and designed for you to work at your own pace.
If something feels tight, you can take your time with it. If a movement doesn’t suit you, we can adjust it.
It’s only 30 minutes, but it’s a great opportunity to slow things down, work on your mobility and give your body some attention after a week of training.
Every Saturday from 8:05 to 8:35am at Body Blitzer.
If you’d like to give it a try, or you’re curious to learn more about our strength and fitness coaching programs at Body Blitzer, send our page a message. We’d love to have a chat and help you find the right place to start.
