Finchie and Richie Deca seen through a thin film of smoke in a wine bar last night with a fan slowly flickering above , each mumbling into the half empty beer glasses something about people not appreciating the pressures of opening and captaining ( to which Richie added wicket keeping) and that the only reason they retired was to be saved the ignominy of being pushed ! Had each decided to drop themselves a little down the order ( as steve Waugh did) the ending may have been happier and latter ! The queens are dead . Long live the queens !

The following from one of the club's stalwarts whom recalls his first game with us. Assumedly the fielding picked up shortly thereafter because Tony Beattie stayed with us and still plays with us ! My first memory of the club also involves Pagey.
Turning around my bowler’s mark as first change, all I could see were Pagey’s keeping gloves, as plain to see as stop signs. With a big bloke standing next to him.
The batsmen managed an edge straight to first slip.
A rapturous applause followed ‘well fielded Maurie’ as it hit him directly below the knee cap and fell to the ground.
I was speechless for some time.
