Night time working improvements via new lighting system.
In the winter months, by the time we open at 5pm - it's already dark meaning we need to use lights. The ability to work outside is essential as inside we only have room for 1 work stand. Working outside - we can accommodate 4-5 work stands under lights.
Our current outdoor lighting is a challenge, with volunteers needing to walk along the dark and dirty passageway before mounting heavy lights off the railings above.
If successful we will be able to implement a much safer process and improve volunteer comfort.
We thank the City of Sydney for their support in improving the safety and accessibility of our workspace.

Another rainy day at CRC - Was clear when we opened but heavy rain when we finished up.
Over the next week or so as it is rainy - please check our socials as we sometimes decide not to open up when it is raining - no-one likes working in the rain + it's not good for tools especially when they are put away wet.
7 bikes donated to us today - we are thankful as always.
We were also able to drop by City of Sydney Redfern & Waterloo Pet Day to sneak in a coffee and see some wonderful puppies!

A few weeks ago, we were able to pickup some donations from our friendly 99 Bikes - Alexandria!
As volunteer run NFP, we can do things that bike shops can't.
From a commercial perspective - it doesn't make sense to fixup and sell second hand bikes.
Factoring in cost of labour for bicycle mechanics, time to repair and replace non-standard components and the need to warranty bike sales means that the numbers are almost impossible to stack up from a commercial perspective.
As a volunteer group, we can fill a valuable space where the commercial sector cannot.
Without having restrictions such as labour cost or break even margin, we can get these bikes back into the community - and get more people riding!
Within 2 weeks, almost all the kids bikes on the left have been given away and the adult commuters are all gone as well.
Having worked with Trek Bicycle and Decathlon Maroc in the past as well, we very much appreciate the support we have receive and continue to look for opportunities to work together in the future!

It's great to have donations of bicycles and also bananas!
Patrick who also volunteers at OzHarvest was able to drop us off this bicycle (and some leftover bananas) after finishing his shift.
The bicycle was in fantastic condition and required a minimal amount of work to get it up to safe riding standard. This bicycle was back out in the community by the end of the day.
Donate your old bicycles with us so someone else can ride them and also (bananas if you have some spare)!

They walked in with one bike and walked out with two!
Dad and daughter walked in with the intention to get the Repco into a rideable condition. After a very productive afternoon and after getting the bike riding with the help of our bike mechanics, Dad also decided to buy one of our freshly refurbished bikes for himself so they can go riding together!
It was our absolute pleasure today to help out this dynamic duo in getting their bike ready to ride. We love working with our community members who are eager to contribute and learn!
