Members wishing to attend must register at least 24 hours before the meeting.

Entries for the Mounties Group 2026 Sydney Open Billiards close in less than a week - at midnight on Friday 23 October. Defending champion and global billiards ambassador Peter Gilchrist is back to defend his title. He will be joined by fellow Singapore rep and 2025 Queensland Open champion, Karthik Ramaswamy. Australia's best players will also be in action. $95 or $50 for women and U/21 juniors. Snooker & Billiards NSW is pleased to announce the appointment of Gareth King as its new Director of Referees, effective from October 1, with Gary Knight transitioning to a new senior advisory role after six years in the position.

Gareth is recognised as one of NSW’s and Australia’s leading referees. His extensive experience includes officiating at major national competitions and international events, earning the respect of players, officials and administrators across the sport.

His knowledge of the rules, composure under pressure and commitment to consistently high standards make him well qualified to lead refereeing in NSW. He will be well supported by his refereeing colleagues, and a board advisory committee tasked with identifying new models of referee recruitment.

The Director of Referees plays a vital role in the growth and development of our games. In addition to maintaining high officiating standards, the position is responsible for supporting the recruitment, training and advancement of referees and ensuring players at every level enjoy fair and professionally conducted competition.

Gary’s long association with snooker began when he was about 13 or 14, after discovering a full-sized snooker table on a family holiday. He was immediately hooked, beginning a lifelong connection with the game as a player, a certified referee in 2001, and NSW Director of Referees in June 2020. We thank Gary for his leadership and contribution since that time, and we are delighted he will remain involved as a senior advisor and NSW Referees Examiner.

Please join us in acknowledging Gary’s service and congratulating Gareth on his appointment to this important position. And - if you know of anyone who wants to join a great sporting community and make some friends along the way - please encourage them to think a joining SBNSW as a referee.

This is a great opportunity for up and coming players to test themselves in a State-level event, enjoy some competitive snooker and take the next step in their game.

We’ll be at Workers, Blacktown, from 23–25 October (evening games only on Fri 23 Oct). We’d love to see entries from right across the NSW snooker community.

Entries close 15 October (or at 64 entries, whichever occurs first). Eligibility conditions apply.

2026 South Pacific Open Snooker Wrap up

Another outstanding weekend of snooker has concluded at Club Marconi, showcasing the very best of our sport in a first-class venue.

A sincere thank you to our host and major supporter, Club Marconi (https://www.clubmarconi.com.au/) for their continued commitment to snooker in New South Wales. Their exceptional facilities, hospitality, and support make them one of the premier venues for cue sports in Australia. We also extend our appreciation to the Marconi Snooker Association, particularly Vittorio Sacco, for their ongoing dedication to the game.

Congratulations to our finalists, Hassan Kerde and Alan McCarthy, who produced a high-quality final worthy of the South Pacific Championship title. Hassan claimed his third South Pacific Open Snooker Championship with another commanding performance, displaying his trademark flamboyant attacking style throughout the tournament.

Hassan didn’t have it all his own way with several 3-2 wins along the way including an amazing win over Vinnie Calabrese in the semi-final from 2 nil down. Alan had a great run to the final playing some great solid and constituent snooker, however twinged his back in the final and Hassan was able to capitalise and take out a solid 4-1 victory

Hassan’s scoring throughout the championship was exceptional having a string of breaks including 3 century breaks with back to back 100’s in round 3

The 122 and 113 breaks were among the finest breaks seen at Club Marconi.

However the Highest Break went to Shaun Dalitz of 124.

The event attracted a strong field of 84 players, with competitors travelling from across metropolitan Sydney and regional New South Wales. We thank all players for their continued support and commitment to the sport.

A special mention goes to Saim Siddiqui who took out the No 1 Seed Shaun Dalitz in the Last 32 with a very solid and consistent performance.

Finally, a huge thank you to our referees, tournament officials, and streaming team, particularly Alan Coutie, whose efforts helped make the championship another great success.

🏆 2026 NSW State Women’s Snooker Champion

Congratulations to Carlie Tait, our 2026 NSW State Women’s Snooker Champion, after a very close 3–2 final against Theresa Whitten at Guildford Leagues Club.

Congratulations also to Theresa on a fantastic tournament and a great final, and to our semi-finalists Jacqui Baird and Kathy Blunden on making it through to the final four.

But more than anything, a huge thank you and congratulations to all 16 women who competed across the weekend. It was wonderful to see such a strong field this year, including some new faces, and the friendship and support amongst the players is a big part of what makes our women’s events so special.

A huge thank you to our referees Eric, Geoff, Phil and Michael for officiating across the weekend, and to Henry Larrea, Jim Hull and everyone at Guildford Leagues Club for being such wonderful hosts and making us feel so welcome.

A fantastic weekend of snooker, and a wonderful group of women to share it with. ❤️
