Melbourne Polo Cup 2026

The Victorian Polo Association is delighted to invite players, patrons and supporters to the 2026 Melbourne Polo Cup, one of the highlights of the Victorian polo season.

Running from Wednesday 28 October to Sunday 8 November 2026, the tournament brings together ten days of competitive polo across 12 Goal, 6 Goal and 2 Goal grades, culminating in Finals Day at Darriwill Polo Field on Sunday 8 November.

Held during one of Melbourne’s most exciting times of year, the Melbourne Polo Cup coincides with the Spring Racing Carnival and Melbourne Cup, giving visiting players and supporters the opportunity to combine outstanding polo with everything Melbourne has to offer.

Matches will also be hosted at Werribee Park Equestrian Centre and Eynesbury Polo Club, with the full tournament schedule to be released following the close of nominations.
Team nominations are now open and close Wednesday 7 October 2026.

We look forward to welcoming the polo community to Victoria for a memorable Melbourne Polo Cup.

VICTORIAN FIRES | Equestrian Victoria has advised that Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre is available for those in need over the coming days. Please call the centre when leaving your property on 0418685312 to advise number of yards so they can accommodate you.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the fires.

Even if you are not in an area of immediate fire danger, these extreme temperatures are being felt nationwide. Please take a moment to ensure your horses have access to adequate shade and plenty of fresh, clean water during these very hot days.

Congratulations to Emmett our lucky recipient of the EQ Saddlery Grooms Prize. Emmett grooms for Jimmy Wood and did an amazing job today looking after his string of ponies on finals day, the ponies were gleaming and really stood out.

Congratulations to Aruba on winning the Melbourne Polo Cup Off The Track Best playing pony in the 10 goal.

Aruba is owned by John Grant and was played by Jack Berner. Aruba raced as Can Exceed.

The OTT Best playing pony in the 6 Goal Melbourne Polo Cup was awarded to Oddsox who raced as Lady Oddsox.

Sired by Lord Jim out of the dam Rani. She raced into first on the racetrack on one occasion retiring in 2016 to begin a long and successful career as a polo pony.

Off the Track 2 Goal Best playing pony went to Vienna who raced as Miss Current.

Sired by KIroshio this brown mare concluded her racing career in 2021. Despite 12 attempts she didn’t break maiden status. She is now having a very successful career as a polo pony.
