Vale Gloria Logan
A devoted life member of Werribee Hockey Club
It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Gloria Logan on 18 October 2026, a much-loved and devoted Life Member of Werribee Hockey Club.
Gloria was far more than a member of our club. She was a passionate volunteer, a dedicated coach, a committed leader and a familiar face whose contribution helped shape the Werribee Hockey Club community across generations. Her dedication to hockey and her willingness to give her time, energy and experience to others reflected the very best of our club.
Throughout her years of service, Gloria filled many roles, always with a strong commitment to the club and its people. Her involvement spanned junior and senior hockey, coaching, committee responsibilities and club leadership. She was President of Werribee Women’s Hockey Club from 1986 to 1988, guiding the club through three years of leadership and service.
Gloria’s passion for developing players was evident in her extensive coaching career. From coaching the Under 13 Girls in 1981 and Under 15 Girls in 1983, to coaching junior and senior teams across the years, she played an important role in supporting players as they learned, developed and enjoyed the game. Her coaching contributions continued well into the 2000s, including the WD3N team in 2003 and junior coaching in 2004.
Her commitment extended well beyond the sidelines. Gloria served on the committee, took on the role of Women’s Secretary in 1993 and Women’s Convenor in 1995, and continued to contribute wherever she was needed. In 1992, she combined committee responsibilities with coaching the Under 17 Girls, a wonderful example of her willingness to give so much of herself to the club.
In 2004, Gloria was recognised as part of the Women’s 30 Year Legend Team, a fitting acknowledgement of her enduring connection to women's hockey and the legacy she helped build.
Gloria’s contribution cannot be measured simply by the positions she held or the teams she coached. It lives on in the players she encouraged, the volunteers she worked alongside, the friendships she formed and the generations of hockey families who benefited from her dedication. She gave so much of her time to ensuring that others had the opportunity to participate, learn and belong.
As a Life Member, Gloria will forever be part of the fabric of Werribee Hockey Club. Her commitment, generosity and love for the game have left a lasting mark on our club and its history.
On behalf of the Werribee Hockey Club community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Gloria’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her.
Thank you, Gloria, for your many years of service, your unwavering dedication and the legacy you leave behind. You gave so much to Werribee Hockey Club, and you will always be remembered with gratitude, respect and affection.
Rest in peace, Gloria. Your legacy will live on in our club, and you will forever be part of the Werribee Hockey Club family.
