Thank you for the loyalty, commitment and passion you have shown throughout your time at Wesburn Junior Football Club. You have represented the Bulldogs with pride, set a wonderful example for our younger girls and each played a special part in building our girls’ program into what it is today.

To your families, thank you for the countless hours, hard work and support you have given not only to your girls, but to our entire club. Junior football simply wouldn’t happen without you.

As you take the next step into your senior years, know that your Wessy family will always be there, proudly cheering you on.

Happy Father’s Day to all the Wessy dads, grandads, stepdads and father figures!

Today we celebrate and thank you for all the time, hard work and dedication you give to our Wessy kids & your families.

Junior footy is about so much more than football. It’s a place where we help develop our kids into confident, respectful and amazing young adults.

So today’s shout out also goes to all the incredible male role models within our club. Whether you’re a dad, coach, volunteer, mentor or simply someone our kids can look up to, the role you play in their lives and within our community is incredibly important.

🏆 DAVID POTTAGE MEMORIAL — TRAINER OF THE YEAR 🏆

Congratulations to Clint Muratore, the recipient of the David Pottage Memorial Trainer of the Year Award.

This award recognises something that can sometimes go unnoticed at a footy club, the people who simply show up.

We all know that person.

The one who is always there.
Always willing to lend a hand.
Always offering support.
Never worried about having a title or being in the spotlight, they just see something that needs doing and get it done.

This year, that person is Clint Muratore.

Clint’s commitment to our Under 10 Boys and to the wider Wessy community has been outstanding. Whether it’s helping the team every training & Game, supporting the coaches, looking after the kids or putting his hand up wherever the club needs him, Clint’s contribution has been meaningful and greatly appreciated.

And that’s exactly what makes this award so fitting.

David “Potts” Pottage was that same kind of Wessy person.

David filled just about any role that was needed, including a year as President! but he is fondly remembered around the club as his teams’ trainer. He wasn’t there for recognition; he was there because he loved his family, his footy and his club.

A word from the Pottage family:

“Firstly, on behalf of the family I’d like to thank the club for honouring my Dad with this shield. It means a lot to us that his presence is still being felt around the club.

Dad was trainer at the club for most of my time at Wessie, from Under 10s through to 16s. Between my games on Sundays and trundling out for the Powelltown 2nds on Saturdays, footy was a big part of our lives when I was growing up and Dad loved his time being involved around the club.

Even though most of the time he was working as trainer, he was always willing to help out with whatever was needed, from helping with warm-ups to filling in as coach when ours couldn’t make it.

He wasn’t just supporting me playing footy, he supported the whole club.

It is great to see the club have an award like this recognising some of the many people who work hard to keep the teams going on game day, and we are proud Dad is associated with it.

Thanks again, and congratulations to this year’s recipient.”
