On Saturday, The Buddiup Project hosted the inaugural Buddiup Cup, with NORTH BEACH FOOTBALL CLUB and Wembley Integrated Football Team coming together for a pre-season friendly. The game saw the two teams mix up players for a fun hit out. It was a game played in great spirits, followed by a sausage sizzle with thanks to our good mates at Mens Talk AU.

Thanks to everybody involved, and we look forward to making this a regular fixture within the pre-season calendar!

Some milestones along the way:

📍 West Perth HQ opens — November 2021
👩 Sisterup launches — November 2023
🏉 Buddiup Geelong — February 2024

A big thank you to our staff, both past and present, who have been an integral part of our story. And the biggest thank you to our participants and their families for trusting us to help on your journeys. Our focus will always remain on helping our participants develop healthy lives and social connection. Here’s to another 5 years and beyond! 💙

Welcome to the team, Nardia!

We’re pleased to welcome Nardia Burgwyn as our new General Manager - Operations.

Nardia brings over 14 years of experience in the disability sector, with particular strengths in operations, compliance and administration. Her background will be valuable as we continue developing our services and organisational capacity across Buddiup and Sisterup, as well as The Buddiup Project Ltd.

Outside work, Nardia has been a competitive swimmer and maintains a strong focus on health and wellbeing, which aligns well with our organisational values and the outcomes we pursue with participants.

We’re looking forward to working with Nardia as she takes on this key role in our organisation.

Social connection drives so much of what we do at Buddiup.
87% of our participants report making new friendships through our programs. Our programs create the space and structure for real friendships to form, built around shared activities and regular catch-ups. These connections matter. They reduce isolation, build confidence, and create support that extends beyond program hours.

Here's a 3-minute highlight from our International Day of People with Disability panel event.

The discussion covered how sport and physical activity create genuine pathways for inclusion, with insights from people with lived experience and the community organisations making it happen.

Thanks again to Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club WA, Superfins Swimming Club, and Wembley Magpies Football Club / Wembley Integrated Football Team for sharing their experiences, and to Developmental Disability WAand Wembley Cricket Club for making the evening possible.
