Tayla Street 89 and Ruby Chapman: you superstars!

A red-letter day for the Australian duo in the new-for-2026 FIM Women’s Speedway World Cup (WSWC) and the revamped FIM Women’s Speedway Gold Trophy (WSGT), which were both held in Croatia on July 4.

After two heat victories to set the cast amongst the pigeons, Street then finished fourth in the final of the inaugural WSGT behind Germans Hannah Grunwald and Celina Liebmann and Slovakian Anna Hajkova, while Chapman was also in fantastic form as she completed the WGST – for under 16-year-olds on 250cc machinery – in second position behind dominant Brit Demi Blu Harris.

An afternoon in Croatia to remember for the Aussies, who took it right up to their international opposition. Congrats Tayla and Ruby!

We are extremely saddened to hear the passing of Jan Blizzard, who gave tirelessly to the cause of motorcycle racing as an official and administrator for seven decades.

That dedication saw the Loftus (NSW) resident awarded an OAM in the King's Birthday Honours list in 2023 in recognition of her years of service, which included marathon stints as president and secretary of the St George Motorcycle Club.

She held the secretary’s role at St George for a remarkable 60 years, touching the lives of so many motorcycle riders during a massive period of growth for the sport.

Jan’s motorcycle racing activities also extended to officiating, and she was an ever-present sight at race meetings across NSW, including at Bathurst, Amaroo Park, Oran Park and Nepean – with a constant smile despite the race-day pressures.

Jan’s late husband, Arthur Blizzard, also poured his heart and soul into motorcycle racing as the boss of the then ACU of NSW. Two legends who leave a rich legacy.

Vale Janice Edna Blizzard. She was 86.

A fantastic update by Tayla ahead of a massive few days of coaching and competition.

Her passion and committment are inspiring, and we look forward to seeing it all come together in Croatia.
