It was the end of year awards recently. Besides winning P2 in the DD2 championships, I was honored with the presidents award for all my hard work and commitment to the club. I’m so thankful for this honor. I never saw it coming and I’m so thankful for it.

It’s been a fantastic year full of lots of great times with amazing people. 2024 has been a blast!

On the weekend I went down to Coffs Harbor to compete at the 7 Track challenge. Every race was a different layout. It was extremely fun and kept me on my toes all weekend. I almost made a mistake on one race when I forgot to run right but luckily saved it.

I qualified P4 which was unexpected. But finished the event P5 overall. This track was so much fun and I can’t wait to return.

The lid from RStar Design was a standout too.

IKC to host round 4 of the Australia Karting Championships.

Karting Australia has confirmed the schedule for the 2025 SP Tools Australian Kart Championship presented by Castrol.

The five-round Championship will kick off in Melbourne at the Go-Kart Club of Victoria from March 28-30. This opening round coincides with a major month of motorsport in Victoria, with the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix taking place just weeks prior from March 13-16.

Each of the four confirmed venues has previously hosted a round of the prestigious Championship. Round Two, set for May 2-4 at the Go-Kart Club of SA, will once again be contested in a clockwise direction at the Monarto Karting Complex, the same format used in 2023. As previously announced, Newcastle will host Round Three from June 13-15, followed by the Ipswich Kart Club for Round Four from July 25-27. The venue for the Grand Final round, scheduled for September 5-7, will be announced in the coming weeks.

2024 QLD State Championship done and dusted!

With extremely tough competition this week with a field complete with exceptionally fast drivers my goal was to just not come last. I was quite pleased that I achieved my goal.

Qualifying - P5, I went out and just tried to put in a solid lap. When done I wasn't extremely happy with my lap, but it was good enough to get me P5 out of 11.

Race 1 - P5, started P5 on the outside, slipping back to P7 on start. Came back to finish P6 but promoted to P5 because of a DQ in front. At the end of the race, the kart started feeling very weird. Turns out had 2 problems. I ran out of fuel in the tank surviving on whatever was in the fuel line, and I snapped the exhaust bracket on the chassis. Also achieved a new P.B lap time during the race.

Race 2 - P6, noticed the broken chassis right before going out, so had to stint it and duck tape and zip tie it in place. Managed to get through the race and finished P6 again.

Race 3 - DNF, after completely stripping the kart, welding up the chassis and reassembling, something was bound to go wrong. My exhaust location had moved, and ended up melting my gear cable and melted the engine cut wire to the exhaust which continued to cut the motor out in 1st gear for me making it undrivable. Had to retire the kart.

Final - P6, spending the night fixing the problems and making sure the kart was in good stead, it was off to the 20 lap final. Started P7 because of the DNF. On opening lap got squeezed to P9. Stayed hot on the tail of some karts, as they made mistakes moving up to P6 and was hot on the heals of P5 for about 14 laps until I started to get a little tired and slipped back off his bumper.

I'm extremely happy with the performance. It was such an amazing event put on by IPSWICH KART CLUB, the committee and all of the volunteers.

Yesterday was a lot of fun at round 3 of the Ipswich Kart Club Championships. I had great pace all weekend and was fortunate enough to come away with another podium.

Round 2 of the Ipswich Kart Club Championship is done and dusted. A new track layout and some extreme heat made it very tough on this old buggers body. But I was fortunate enough to come away with another podium for the year. Qualifying P3 and finishing P3 in every heat and final. The two Scott’s are too quick for me. A couple close calls when lapping some KA3 karts but a lot of fun. Massive shoutout to the club and all the volunteers and officials for putting on such a great event every month.
