Willunga Table Tennis Club
A club that offers social competition, practice and coaching for people of any age and ability. Jun
Hi all. Obviously the plan to get together is shelved for now due to the state shutdown.
Hopefully after Christmas we will have a chance to get together. Use this time to do something constructive that you wouldn't normally do. It's not easy for some to be locked in. For some it's buisiness as usual.
Stay positive one and all. We'll see each other soon enough.
Hi deprived ball smackers. It's been a long time between posts . Trevor and myself have decided it's time to get the team together for a social gathering to discuss the future of the club.
Since we shut down due to risks accociated by the pandemic the club has been struggling to find the nessesary people willing to take responsibility to make us comply with the new regulations.
I'm thinking maybe it's time to at least get all you terrific people together and see if we can find a path forward that may once again see the club in action once again.
I propose getting together on the weekend of the 28th or 29th of November at the tennis courts in Belair National Park for a Social BBQ.
There are is also a couple of outdoor Table Tennis Tables so bring the bats too.
Please show intrest by replying here or contacting me on 0416187870. If you could extend the invitation to old players, family and anyone else who might be interested it would be appreciated.
If we don't get a sygnificant response I'll understand. It's a tough time of year to be organising social events. I'll keep you all informed as to what day we will chose for that weekend. Please forward your preferred day.
I would prefer the Sunday.
I'll need numbers before Friday to make sure we get the booking we want.
Regards, Grant.
Hi Team smackers and paddlers.
I'm definitely missing playing both at southern and Willunga. It's very sobering times and I'm glad we have moved early to do our part to reduce the chances of exposure to this virus.
In the coming months there will be many challenges. Many of us will be without work and budgets will no doubt be a problem for many.
Times of crisis is when opportunity is most prevalent. This is a huge chance to build productive networks and friendships.
I'm looking forward to the time we can open the hall again for our social games. In the meantime feel free to use this webpage to ask for or offer help to those around you.
If you're in need, voice your difficulties. If you can help, thats good too. If nothing else offer encouragement and moral support for those doing it tough.
Stay safe and healthy and we'll come out stronger than ever on the other side.
My thoughts are with you all.
Regards, Grant.
Right all you WillungandAldingaPingaPongas
Many clubs are pausing activities in response to the current worldwide pandemic.
Following suit we are postponing our usual Wednesday social competition for the next three weeks at such time we will post out an update on how we will proceed.
There are many conflicting ideas as to how to respond this new virus threat. What seems to be fairly universally accepted is the idea to slow it's path as much as we can in order not to overload the critical medical institutions we have.
It is believed by many that the population is likely to develop a level of immunity once a sygnificant number recover. The idea is that the "herd immunity" will slow the infection rate to a manageable level into the future.
In the meantime those at higher risk are being urged to take extra precautionary measures to protect themselves.
Keep positive folks. I'm sure we'll make it through this if we keep our heads. Watch out for friends and family, but particularly keep yourself as informed as possible. As our hospitals strain to keep up in the coming months everyone who manages to stay virus free will help relieve the situation.
This post represents my opinion only. Feel free to make comments below if you feel you have anything to add.
I'll post periodically as the situation unfolds.
My thoughts are with you all.
Grant.
Table tennis is on again tonight in the old show hall from 7pm. See you all there.

Hi all you pongy pingers. As a few of you may know we had to cancel last week due to lighting issues. Trevor has been in touch with Rec Park and has been assured that the lights will be on for next Wednesday.
On a positive note the fine folk from The Southern Table Tennis Association have donated a box of butterfly competition balls to our club. At some point in the future we might need to transition from the celluloid balls to the new plastic ones, but for now this gift is highly appreciated. Thank you Southern TT.
Unfortunately for myself I've given up the game for a while in the hope that I can get my knees right for playing in the future. I'll drop in on you from time to time but it looks as if I'll need some time to get myself right again.
Best of luck.
Regards, Grant.
