ποΈββοΈ Course Update β August 2026
π€οΈ Weather & Rainfall
August brought just 10 mm of rainfall, bringing our year-to-date total to 701 mm.
And that's a wrap on winter! π± After a cooler and wetter-than-expected winter, we're looking forward to the warmer conditions and longer days ahead. With spring now here, we're starting to see the turf wake up and growth rates increase. Bring on the growth! π±βοΈ
The warmer conditions will give the turf the opportunity to recover, strengthen and fill in areas that have been affected by the cooler months. The greens team will be keeping a close eye on moisture, nutrition and growth as we transition into spring.
π±β³ BIG CONGRATULATIONS AIDAN! β³π±
Congratulations to Aidan Brooke on completing his Certificate III in Sports Turf Management! ππ±
Itβs been a pretty cool journey watching Aidan develop throughout his apprenticeship. When he first started, those early mornings werenβt exactly his favourite thing πβ β but fast forward to now and heβs often the first one there, unlocking the shed, checking over the machinery and getting everything ready for the day. Safe to say, weβve seen a fair bit of growth β not just in the turf! ππ±
Aidan has put in plenty of hard work, early mornings, dirty boots and long days, and itβs great to see it all paying off.
Weβre just waiting on TAFE to sort the paperwork and make it official official, but the hard work is done! π Weβre proud to have Aidan continuing to grow with the Windaroo Lakes Agronomy Team, and weβre looking forward to seeing whatβs next for him. π±β³
Well done mate β youβve earned it! ππ»
From all the team at Windaroo Lakes Golf Club, congratulations Aidan! π
β³ Course Care β Members & Guests
As we head into spring and the turf starts growing again, we ask everyone to help us keep the course in the best possible condition.
Please remember to:
Repair pitch marks on greens.
Fill in divots on tees and fairways.
Rake bunkers after use and return rakes to the centre.
When βCarts on Pathsβ signs are in place, please keep all four wheels of your golf cart on the path at all times. This helps protect the turf and allows damaged areas to recover.
Please observe all temporary ropes, signage and course restrictions to help protect vulnerable areas.
A few seconds from each golfer can make a huge difference to the presentation and playing conditions of the course, especially as we head into the busy spring and summer growing season.
π± Did You Know?
As temperatures and daylight increase, turf begins to increase its growth rate. This is when the greens team can really start encouraging the turf to recover, thicken and strengthen after winter. Spring is also an important time for managing water, nutrition and growth, helping us prepare the course for the warmer months ahead.
β³ Closing
Winter is officially behind us, and weβre looking forward to seeing the course really come alive over the next few months.
With warmer temperatures, longer days and increased turf growth, there is plenty happening around the course as we prepare for the busy spring and summer periods.
On behalf of the entire greens team, thank you for your ongoing support, patience and cooperation. Working together helps us continue to present Windaroo Lakes Golf Club in the best possible condition throughout the year.
As always, please remember to Slip, Slop, Slap and stay hydrated βοΈπ±β³

BUNKER ETIQUETTE β LEAVE IT BETTER FOR THE NEXT PLAYER
We need to address something that is becoming increasingly disappointing around the course β the disgraceful condition some golfers are leaving our bunkers in.
Our green staff have worked tirelessly to get our bunkers back into great shape. To then see golfers play their shot and walk away leaving footprints, disturbed sand and unraked areas behind is simply not acceptable.
More importantly, it impacts the experience and fairness for the golfer playing behind you.
A bunker shouldnβt be a lucky dip depending on who played through before you.
When youβre finished in a bunker:
π’ Rake your footprints AND where you played your shot
π’ Smooth the sand properly β donβt just give it a quick scrape
π’ Leave the rake in the bottom of the bunker
π’ Take a quick look around before you walk away
The expectation is simple:
Leave the bunker better than you found it.
It takes less than a minute, shows respect for your fellow golfers and helps protect the enormous amount of work our green staff put into presenting the course.
β NOT ACCEPTABLE: Footprints, divots, disturbed sand or simply walking away without raking.
β
WHAT WE EXPECT: Smooth, tidy sand with the rake returned to the bottom of the bunker, ready for the next golfer.
We are asking every member and guest to take responsibility for this.
Players who are identified failing to rake bunkers will be contacted directly by the Club. If you see someone walking away without raking their bunker, please let the Pro Shop or course staff know.
We shouldnβt need to continually remind golfers of something as basic as raking a bunker.
π± Respect the course. Respect our green staff. Respect the golfer behind you.
Leave it better than you found it. β³οΈ
