ℹ️ 𝐃𝐎𝐆𝐒 𝐍𝐓: 𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐒𝐍𝐀𝐊𝐄𝐒 & 𝐃𝐎𝐆𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐓.
🌞 As the weather warms up for our summer season, you've no doubt noticed more snake and reptile activity throughout the Northern Territory.
🐍 Snakes are a significant hazard for dogs in the Northern Territory, especially in warmer months, with dangerous species like Taipans, Brown Snakes, and Death Adders present, but pythons are common too.
👨⚕️ If a dog is bitten, keep them calm and quiet, apply a pressure bandage (not a tourniquet), and rush to a vet immediately; early treatment with antivenom offers the best survival chances (80%+). Prevention is key: keep yards tidy, control pests.
