Calling all Defence personnel, veterans and Defence families across Darwin and Palmerston! 🇦🇺

Thanks to the generous support of the Northern Territory Government, all four Fight for Change programs are being offered completely FREE of charge!

Delivered by Combat Therapy Centre, Fight for Change is about bringing people together through movement, mateship, adventurous play, shared challenges and genuine connection.

And this isn’t your typical wellbeing program!

🔥 BETWEEN THE ROUNDS | 09:30–11:00
For serving men and veterans. Get moving, connect with mates and discover the strength of having people in your corner.

🥊 IN MY CORNER | 11:30–13:00
For Defence/veteran dads and male caregivers with sons aged 10–17. Less sitting down for a chat, more getting on the mats together! Build connection through movement, teamwork and a little friendly competition.

🐊 ROUGH’N’TUMBLE PLAYGROUP | 13:30–14:30
For Defence/veteran dads and male caregivers with children aged 1–6. Think playgroup meets Ninja Warrior! Climbing, balancing, exploring and plenty of laughter. Multiple little adventurers welcome!

💪 FROM SAFETY TO STRENGTH | 15:30–16:30
For serving women, female veterans, Defence partners and daughters. Build confidence, learn practical personal safety skills and discover what you’re capable of in a supportive environment.

Junior classes commence Tuesday

With Term 4 commencing this week please note that our first class for our juniors will be our MMA class on Tuesday.

There is something pretty special about the Jiu Jitsu community.

Today at the Lachlan Giles Jiu Jitsu Camp in Bali, I had the pleasure of meeting Danny and Bec John's, formally from Whitsunday Martial Arts and now teaching at Escape Jiu Jitsu in Airlie Beach.

The connection between us is one of our students, Taylor.

Before moving and finding her way to Combat Therapy Centre, Taylor trained with Danny and Bec and their son Zane in the Whitsundays. She has now been with us for most of the year, and we have been incredibly fortunate to have her as part of our community.

Taylor is one of those people who quietly makes a place better.

She throws herself into learning, brings a great attitude to training, and is always willing to help with our kids programs. More importantly, she is simply an amazing human to have around the gym.

Taylor's mum had let Danny and Bec know that we were all at the same camp in Bali and had apparently said some very kind things about us and Combat Therapy Centre. So today, Danny and Bec came over and introduced themselves.

It was a small interaction, but it meant a lot.

When people move towns, change gyms or life simply takes them somewhere new, they don't erase the people who helped them along the way.

Good coaches leave something behind.

The confidence they helped build, the lessons they taught, the standards they set and the love of Jiu Jitsu they nurtured travel with that student into the next room.

As Taylor's current coaches, we get to benefit from the time, care and effort that Danny and Bec invested in her before she ever walked through our doors.

And hopefully, if life takes Taylor somewhere else one day, the next coaches she meets will see a little bit of what all of us have contributed too.

That's something worth remembering in martial arts.

We don't own our students. We get the privilege of being part of their journey.

It was genuinely lovely to meet you both, Danny and Bec. Thank you for helping shape such a wonderful person and training partner.

From the Whitsundays, to Combat Therapy Centre, and somehow all the way to a Jiu Jitsu camp in Bali.

The world gets surprisingly small when you're on the mats. 🥋❤

Dear parents,
Term 3 grading for our juniors is this Thursday from 5pm. Please make sure they wear their Gi’s. Our Junior Croc class will commence at the normal time but will finish at 4:50.

Term 4 will commence on Thursday 8th of October.
