A little shake-up is happening in the Hathor dance world, with some exciting changes to our weekly classes!

WEDNESDAYS: BAULKHAM HILLS

NEW STUDIO. SAME SHIMMABULOUS ENERGY!

We’ve moved! But only across the road from Grove Square!

Our final 7-week term for 2026 kicks off Wednesday 14 October, welcoming dancers ready to move, learn, laugh and shimmy their way towards Christmas!

Level 1, 26B Old Northern Rd, Baulkham Hills
14 October – 9 December (no classes 4 & 11 November)

MONDAYS: ADVANCED DANCE DEVELOPMENT

20+ YEARS OF MONDAY ADVANCED CLASSES… AND IT’S TIME TO EVOLVE!

We’re moving beyond the traditional 90-minute class into a focused 6-week Artist Development Program.

12 hours of head-to-toe training, exploring technique, musicality, improvisation, artistry, creative development and performance skills, culminating in an informal studio showing with feedback. For the Advanced dancer, performer, teacher in training or for established dancers who want a challenge!

Less about learning more steps. More about developing the whole dancer.

Mondays | 7–9pm
6-week program | Leichhardt

Whether you’re looking to reconnect with the joy of dancing or take your artistry to another level, there’s a place for you!

And with more exciting projects brewing for 2027, we’re certainly not slowing down… just evolving!

DM Jrisi for class information and enrolments.

Let’s finish 2026 on a SHIMMABULOUS high!

20 years of live music.
20 years of listening, learning, dancing, experimenting and evolving.

And I’m not done yet.

In 2027, the next chapter begins.

Built on two decades of creating quality live music experiences for dancers but with fresh energy, new concepts, special guests and a few surprises still to be revealed.

Because live music isn’t simply something we dance to.

We breathe it.
We listen to it.
We respond to it.
We live inside it.

And just as we evolve as dancers, the experience must evolve with us.

For those who have shared this journey with me over the years, you’ll recognise its heart.

For those who have never experienced it, this might be your time.

Something new is coming.

Same heart. New pulse.

SAVE THE DATE.
More soon…

What a fabulous time at Gulnara | Belly Dance Festival

I had such a wonderful group of dancers come along and taste a little of my Dance Kitchen: A Menu of Movement workshop and, as always, there were plenty of laughs along the way!

One of the really special moments for me was having a beautiful participant who is hearing impaired, accompanied by her Auslan interpreter.

I’ve always been fascinated by sign language so much so that when Javier was just one year old, I took him to baby sign language classes. So you can imagine how hard it was for me NOT to become completely distracted by the interpreter! I desperately wanted to follow and learn every movement of her hands. It was like watching another beautiful form of choreography unfold alongside mine.

The experience has actually inspired me to delve deeper into Auslan and look into doing some further study.

It was also a lovely reminder that as much as I hope to give through my workshops, teaching and performances, I so often walk away having received something unexpected in return.

That’s the beauty of sharing a room through dance, we’re always learning from each other.
Thank you Gulnara for having me!

This is what I love about dance. The connection. The exchange. The unspoken conversation between two women sharing the same rhythm. Sisterhood in motion.

¡Feliz Día de las Fiestas Patrias! 🇨🇱

Two-year-old me, dressed as a little huasa floral dress, apron, freckles to boot… and apparently VERY unimpressed with my braids!

Today I celebrate the country of my birth, Chile.

On 18 September 1810, Chile formed its Primera Junta Nacional de Gobierno, an event regarded as the beginning of the country’s path towards independence from Spain. Chile’s independence was formally proclaimed years later, on 12 February 1818, but el Dieciocho became the great national celebration of Chilean identity, culture and patria.

Although Australia has been my home for most of my life, Chile will always be part of who I am, in my family, my memories, my culture and, clearly, my childhood wardrobe!

So today, wherever in the world we may be…

¡Viva Chile! 🇨🇱
¡Viva la patria!
¡Felices Fiestas Patrias a todos los chilenos! ❤️🤍💙

And apologies to two-year-old Jrisi for the braids. She was not having it but mum thought I looked adorable, lol!

🇨🇱❤️

WHAT’S THE GOSS, GIRL? … PART 2

Well, I did say there was a little dance news coming your way… so here are the first two little bits of goss.

FIRST UP….WE’RE PERFORMING!
This Sunday, 30th August, I’ll be hitting the floor with my Hathor Hills girls at Bellydance Karaoke at Kiss My Brass, Marrickville. We’ll be doing a fun Shabbi piece.

Doors open from 2pm, performances from 2:30pm, FREE entry and an open dance floor to wrap things up. Come along, cheer on the dancers and have a boogie with us.

AND… I’VE BEEN TALKING!
I’m also rather chuffed to be featured on Iana’s Belly Dance Life Podcast Iana 🧿🪬 , Episode 389, chatting about a subject very close to my heart:

“How to Dance With Musicians Instead of Just Dancing to Music.”

But the conversation goes much deeper than that.

We talk about dance, live music, longevity, and dancing through grief, and yes, I get a little teary at one point. It’s a completely open and honest conversation and, if you know me, you’ll know I’m not particularly good at sugar-coating anything.

There are some laughs, some emotion and plenty of thoughts from an artist who has spent a very long time navigating this crazy dance life.

And anyone who knows me also knows I can waffle on about live music for HOURS…

So there you have it. Not exactly scandalous gossip, but plenty happening in my little dance corner of the world.

And apparently… there’s still more to come in Sept…Stay tuned!
