🏆 Champions Cup 🥋

What a fantastic day of Jiu Jitsu! We’re incredibly proud of every one of our kids who stepped onto the mats last weekend.

The results are great, but what stood out even more was the effort, resilience and sportsmanship shown throughout the day. Every match was another opportunity to learn, adapt and grow.

One of the best parts of the day was seeing teammates cheering each other on from the sidelines, celebrating each other’s successes and lifting each other up after tough matches. That’s what being part of a team is all about. 💙

It’s exciting to see the techniques we’ve been working on in class coming together under pressure. The confidence, composure and technical growth these young athletes are showing is a credit to their hard work and dedication.

Win or lose, every match is a step forward. Keep showing up, keep learning and keep getting 1% better every day.

"I’m bored."

It's a phrase coaches hear from athletes of all ages.

But here's something worth considering...

Most athletes who say they're bored aren't actually bored with training. They're bored because they're doing the same things over and over again, and this happens across ALL age groups.

They've been shown new techniques, new concepts, and new ways to solve problems, yet when it's time to train, they return to what feels comfortable.

Growth lives outside your comfort zone.

The athlete who experiments with new techniques will lose sometimes. They'll make mistakes. They'll get caught. They'll feel awkward.

But they'll also improve.

The athlete who refuses to try something new might win a few rounds today, but they'll eventually hit a ceiling.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is too deep and too complex to be bored with. There is always another grip to explore, another escape to learn, another detail to refine.

Before you tell yourself you're bored, ask yourself this:

"Have I truly committed to learning something new, or am I just repeating what I already know?"

The athletes who continue to grow aren't always the most talented.

They're the ones willing to be beginners again and again.

This past Saturday, we held the second round of our Juniors Champions Cup.

The Champions Cup provides our athletes with an opportunity to showcase their skills in a competitive environment in front of family and friends. It is always fantastic to see the courage they display when stepping onto the mat.

For the children in our Juniors squad, and the invited P*e Wees, the event is about far more than winning. It is an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, teamwork, camaraderie, resilience, and sportsmanship.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the most challenging martial arts in the world. There are no shortcuts, and success is never guaranteed. Every athlete enters the competition wanting to win, but not everyone will have their hand raised at the end of the match. Learning to handle disappointment, identify areas for improvement, and return to training with a positive attitude is where some of the most valuable lessons are learned.

We are very fortunate to have Burger Urge Wodonga as a long-term sponsor, providing awards for our Under 16 athletes.

This round's awards were presented to:
Match of the Mat
• Mat One: Sonny and Evanna
• Mat Two: Ollie and Benji

Most Technical Athletes
• Finn S
• Hunter

We also celebrated the promotion of four athletes from White Belt to Yellow/White Belt:
- George
- Elliot
- Ollie
- Henry

Congratulations to every athlete who stepped onto the mat. Your improvement, determination, and support of one another continue to make us proud.

A very special thank you to Greg Dean and the team at Burger Urge Wodonga for their ongoing support of our Under 16 programs.

In Jiu Jitsu, success rarely comes from giant leaps forward.

It’s the extra round when you’re tired.
The technique you drill one more time.
The decision to show up when motivation is low.

Get 1% better every day, and those small improvements become something extraordinary over time.

Keep learning. Keep showing up. Keep growing. 🥋💙💪

The goal isn’t to be better than someone else.
The goal is to be better than you were yesterday.
