Wollongong Fury put up a strong fight against a quality Western Sydney Panthers side, posting a competitive 145/6 from 25 overs. Tanvir (32), Isbat (32) and Adnan Kabir 21 (20) led the batting effort.

With the ball, Rafiul Bari (2/18) was the standout, while Afif and Hamid also chipped in with wickets. Fury fought hard throughout, but the Pantherrs just got over the line with 3 balls to spare. A disappointing result, but a gutsy Fury performance against a strong opponent, with the boys pushing them right to the final over.

Fury won the toss and elected to bat on a very cold and wet morning.

A solid start from the Fury boys against a full-strength Sydney Shield team, with strong performances from Sazzed 30 (33) and Hamid 42 (50), who both batted bravely in difficult conditions. Adnan 22 (16) lifted the scoring rate before Zaied 18 (16) finished off a good innings. After several rain interruptions, Fury finished on 7/149 from 23 overs.

Shield started quickly in their chase, but Furyโ€™s bowlers fought back strongly and kept the pressure on. Zaied bowled superbly, taking 2/20 from his 4 overs, while Adnan produced a brilliant caught-and-bowled dismissal to start an impressive spell of 4/26 from 5 overs.
Fury continued to apply pressure right through to the closing stages but were ultimately unable to finish the job. Shield reached 7/152 from their 20 overs to secure the win.

With a much-improved performance from Fury against quality opposition, the next match against the Western Sydney Panthers presents another great challenge and an opportunity for the boys to take the next step and register their first win.

Hard day for Wollongong Fury. Fury started their historic BD Cup journey though it was a loss unfortunately.

On a very unseasonably hot day, Ekattor won the toss and elected to bat.

Fury started well, with Shakib (2/27 off 5) bowling with good pace and control, supported by Zaied (0/35 off 5). Rafi Akram (2/21 off 4) was the pick of the bowlers. Ekattor were restricted to 4/72 after 12 overs, but fought back to finish 8/186 from 25 overs.

Ekattor, last year's BD Cup champions, bowled well with Fury losing both openers in the first over and never fully recovering after that. Sazzed 16 (30) and Hamid 9 (22) provided some resistance before the middle order collapsed. Zaied 13 (23) and Pushkin 18*no (43) battled to the end, with Fury finishing 9/84 from 25 overs.

The Journey Endsโ€ฆ But What a Journey!

With all the excitement and atmosphere that comes with a BCL Grand Final, Wollongong Fury made their first appearance on the biggest stage against the competition's most successful side, the Randwick Raiders.

On a perfect day for cricket, Fury lost the toss and Randwick elected to bat first, looking to put scoreboard pressure on from the outset.

Randwick showed why they are multiple-time champions, racing to 1/83 after just 7.2 overs and maintaining a scoring rate of over 10 runs an over throughout the innings. Sami was Fury's best with the ball, finishing with 4/39 (3), and Shanawaz was only economical 0/25 (4), but the Raiders powered their way to an imposing 7/211 (20). Player of the Match Vetti led the charge with a blistering 51 (20).

Needing 212 to win, Fury attacked from the first ball. Ramim (20 off 13) and Afnan's outstanding unbeaten 73 (52) gave Fury genuine belief, before Abir added a quick-fire 24 (15). Two brilliant catches by Randwick swung the momentum back their way, but Man of the Tournament Zaied responded with a breathtaking 48 (18).

Zaied and Afnan shared a thrilling 84-run partnership in just seven overs, bringing Fury within sight of an incredible Grand Final victory. The crowd sensed an upset, but after Zaied's dismissal the fairytale fell just short. Fury fought until the final over, finishing on 6/199 (20), only 12 runs short.

๐’๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ
Although the trophy went to Randwick, Wollongong Fury won the respect of everyone watching. In just their first year as a club, they reached the Grand Final of one of the most prestigious Bangladeshi community cricket competitions and pushed the tournament's greatest team all the way. A remarkable achievement by every player, Captain Zaied, the senior playing group, and team management. The future is bright for Fury.
