WMBC 2026 AGM and Change of Directors

Thanks to everyone who came along to the WMBC AGM on Thursday night and to Mount Kembla Village Hotel for providing the venue. The crowd was a bit smaller than previous years, but there was lots of information shared about the operation of the club, the Kembla and Balgownie trail networks and other things generally mountain biking.

Three new directors joined the WMBC board, Alex Tasievski, John De Jonge and Corey Barnes. Thanks to these 3 for stepping up to ensure the continuity of the club and I am sure we will se them around.

Stewart Wilkins- Treasurer, and Sarah Rennie- Secretary and Corey Dowling- Maintenance also put up their hands to stand for another term on the board, so thanks to them for staying on for important roles in the club.

Three of our existing directors have also retired from the board, Katy Woolley- Marketing, Craig Morris- Vice President and Mark Dobbins- President have all stood down and passed the roles onto new people. We thank then for their service over the term of the last 2 years and beforehand as well. All 3 were instrumental in reestablishing the club, setting up the administration systems and forming the relationship with NPWS for access to the new trail network. I am sure you will still see them around at events and generally on the trails.

There is an exciting list of events planned for the next 6 months, so stay turned to our page and website for the details and registration opportunities.

Cheers
WMBC Directors.

Ride to Resilience movie screening 31/07/2026

Ride to Resilience movie screening 13th Aug 2026 7pm
Seeker Brewing

Join Wollongong Mountain Bike Club for the premiere of “Ride to Resilience”, a new freeride mountain bike film from Steve Vanderhoek. Featuring riding from Yoann Barelli, Brage Vestavik, Caleb Holonko and Steve Vanderhoek.

What started as a typical freeride film project quickly changed tack with the mental impact of injury reshaping this into a 2 hour epic. Part freeride film, part documentary, Ride to Resilience is unlike any mountain bike movie ever made. It features the most jaw dropping riding seen in years, the effort of building the lines being ridden and the harsh reality of life when things don't go to plan over the 2 years of filming. One thing is for sure, this film leaves you stoked to get out and ride!!

Come join us at Seeker Brewing on Thursday 13th August. They have a huge projector screen and a killer sound system. The film will start at 7pm sharp so be there with plenty of time to grab a woodfired pizza and a drink, they're open from 3pm if you want dibs on the lounges!

Tickets are via the Humanitix link below, all proceeds go towards Wollongong Mountain Bike Club to be used to provide free skills coaching to kids in our community.

Kembla Maintenance Trail Session – Saturday 1 August 2026

The next maintenance day is confirmed for Saturday 1 August 2026, from 12:30pm to 4:00pm.

If you'd like to join NPWS, please send a text to Ranger Anita, on 0428 154 290 with your name to confirm your attendance.

This month's session will focus on Stinger Climb and Chameleon Black. Work to improve the line for one section of Chameleon Black to provide riders with more line choice while supporting the long-term sustainability of the trail. They will also be undertaking some rock armouring, an important trail-building technique used to improve durability and manage drainage. It's a valuable skill to learn for anyone interested in trail construction.

The team from Iconic Trails will be there to provide guidance and share their expertise. Whether you attended several trail days or this is your first time volunteering, there will be plenty of opportunities to learn new skills and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the trails.

A reminder that volunteers under 18 are welcome to attend, however they must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult for the entire session, including the safety briefing.

Thank you again for your continued support and the time you contribute to helping maintain and improve the trails at the Kembla MTB network.
