14th birthday… a new puppy & ticket to Finals Day after beating a World Champ. How good is that 🎂

If you’ve surfed the Maldives, you’ll be familiar with perfection
When we surfed there in the early 90’s we were met with pristine oceans, marine life and beautiful local humble people
We described the waves as being so perfect, at times they were hard to read, just so glassy and not a drop of water out of place, dreamy!

I fell in love with this beautiful Muslim village in the early 80’s
Day trips leaving at 4.30am in a bemo loaded with banana jaffles made with love by the local family in Tuban
On arrival, there was no accommodation only the waves and the local families, I’d walk, fully covered, to the keyhole where you’d paddle out, clothes off down to my one piece, surf, then dress, cover again and walk back to the only warong in the dirt car park
The respect for each other is what had me coming back every year sometimes twice if I could
Over the years I’ve watched this change
Hey I still surf in my one piece and see the ladies in their swimmers that’s awesome! I just find it so disturbing to watch ladies walking through the village etc in their g or brief swimmers
You too fell in love with this Muslim village, read the sign and please have some respect

Now this is commitment, you go girl!!!!

I’m relearning to surf in my 40’s. I started in my 20’s and it didn’t go so well. After 15 years out of the water and 3 kids I’m back in at it. I’ve been trying to go to outside Edinburgh as consistently as I can. I’ve gone from an 8ft foamie to a 5’10 hardboard where I think I’ve hit the sweet spot. The winter months were hard, I went blue many times but it’s starting to pay off as we come into the summer months. This is where I’m at.

Some memories are priceless! 🫶🏼😂
