WTCS GRAND FINAL PONTEVEDRA 2026
After several weeks of altitude training, we arrived in Pontevedra for the grand Final, and I couldn’t be happier to see all that work reflected in such an extraordinary set of results.
Ricardo Batista, 4th in the Grand Final and BRONZE medallist in the World Championship. An extraordinary result in a career that continues to make history.
João Nuno Batista, 11th in the Grand Final and 16th in the final ranking. Another huge step in establishing himself among the world’s elite.
Márton Kropkó, 24th, on his return to competition after a long time injured .
Marti Kropkó, 4th across the finish line, but subsequently DSQ. The official result does not reflect what she showed in the race. She is no longer the athlete looking simply to get out in a small group and wait for the breakaway to succeed. She is now an athlete capable of fighting at the front of a World Championship Grand Final. That evolution is extraordinary.
Maria Tomé, 20th. Not the result we were aiming for, but the performance is there!! Keep fighting
In the U23 category, Bethany Cook finished 5th,Gustavo do Canto 18th and Cassilda Carvalho 26th, what a performance for all…
In the Junior category, Jázmin Kropkó finished 5th when she still junior for the next 2 years and Catarina Santos 30th.
Different results, different stories, but all part of the same journey.
A special thank you to my assistant coach Tiago Fonseca, my right-hand man, to our massage therapist Pedro Salgueiro, who was with us every day in Font Romeu, and to the Portuguese Triathlon Federation, especially Bruno Salvador, for his tireless support of the High Performance programme.
And to my wife and my children, thank you for understanding all my absences and for allowing me to pursue this passion.
Only together is all of this possible.
