Are you passionate about cricket and helping young legends learn the game? The Wonthaggi Club Cricket Club is looking for an energetic, community-minded Under 11s Cricket Coach for the upcoming season!

Wearing the proud Navy & Gold, our U11 squad is eager to build their skills, play fair, and have a blast on the field.

What We’re Looking For:

Passion for junior sport development and fun

Basic cricket knowledge

Great communication skills with young players and parents

A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC)

Get ready for the upcoming season! Pre-season training for our Under 17s kicks off soon, and we want to see as many faces out on the turf as possible. Whether you’re a returning player or keen to join the club for the first time, all skills and experience levels are welcome.

Our 2026 Cricket Blast program kicks off this October at McMahon Reserve!

Designed for kids to get active, make friends and have fun, Cricket Blast is the perfect introduction to cricket. No experience needed, just come along and have a go!

Vale Noel "Butch" West

We say goodbye to one of the greatest people our club has ever known.

It is with great sadness that the Wonthaggi Cricket Club acknowledges the passing of our Life Member and Club Legend, Noel "Butch" West.

Butch was a former President, premiership captain and coach, but to so many he was simply the heart and soul of our club. His dedication, passion and tireless commitment over many decades helped build the Wonthaggi Cricket Club into what it is today. His influence can still be seen in every part of our club.

His contribution was recognised with the naming of the No. 2 turf wicket at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve as The Noel "Butch" West Oval — a fitting honour for someone who gave so much to the game and to our club.

Butch coached and mentored generations of local cricketers, always happy to share his time, his knowledge and his love of the game. He expected the best from those around him, but he was always there to help people become better players and better people.

Above everything else, Butch was a family man. A devoted husband to Eileen, proud father to Lisa, Stephen, Scott, Andrew and Bevan, and a much-loved Pop to our current players Fraser and Harry.

Our thoughts are with Eileen, the entire West family and everyone whose lives were touched by Butch.

Thank you, Butch. For your leadership, your friendship and everything you gave to this club.

You leave behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace.

Taking a look back at a massive scorecard from the 1993/94 season!

In Round 7 of the LDCA Grade B competition, Wonthaggi Workers took on Poowong-Loch at Dudley. Winning the toss and batting first, Workers put on a huge total of 6/314!

🔥 Highlights from the innings:

Craig Harvey anchored the innings with a brilliant 125!

Robert Geyer provided high-impact scoring with a solid 54.

Greg Ryan capped off the innings unbeaten on 38*.

Jason O'Reilly (35) and Aaron Yann (29) made important contributions at the top.
