Australian Caravan History

Looking back a quarter of a century ago to July 2001.
The units being reviewed were a Coromal Mirage Capri caravan, a used 1986 Viscount Ultra Lite, a Jayco Flamingo Outback camper trailer, and a Traveller Storm poptop. In the Motorhome World section they reviewed a Safari motorhome based on a Mercedes Sprinter.
They evaluated a Ford Explorer as a tow vehicle.
Places visited included Swan Valley, WA and Warrnambool, Victoria.

30 years ago...
On review were units by Hallmark, Golf and Compass. There was a look at some of the Showstoppers of the Melbourne Caravan show.
Places visited included Tasmania, Beechworth in Victoria and the Barossa in SA

The caravan in this picture is an Argonaut, a Victorian brand of fairly good quality.

A is for Argonaut Caravans.
They were located at 232-234 Mahoneys Road in Thomastown, a northern suburb of Melbourne during the 1970s. They were a smaller company that was considered to be of a higher level of quality of construction and with an ability to custom build to a customer's wishes.
