Disc golf and traditional golf have more in common than many people realise.

This recent article from Golf Australia explores how throwing a disc can help golfers better understand sequencing, rotation and the athletic movement behind a golf swing. It is also another great example of disc golf reaching audiences well beyond the existing disc golf community.

For RAD, that crossover is particularly interesting.

Golf courses are one of the many environments where disc golf can create additional recreation opportunities, attract new users and make better use of existing land. When the course is professionally planned, the two sports can complement each other while delivering very different experiences.

There’s a proposal for a new beginner-friendly, nine-hole disc golf course at the Calleya Community Garden precinct — and the City of Cockburn wants to hear what the community thinks.

Disc golf is free to play, easy to learn, and fun for kids, adults, families, friends and first-timers. It’s all about getting outdoors, moving your body, enjoying nature and connecting with your local community.

The proposed course has been designed to work with the existing landscape, open grassed areas, paths and community spaces.
