Woodville Warriors District Basketball Club The Woodville District Basketball Club (WDBC) is a district basketball club based in the West of Adel We remain true to that philosophy today.

The Woodville District Basketball Club (WDBC) is a district basketball club based in the West of Adelaide. We cater for players of all ages and abilities from juniors through to NBL, Premier League, State League and veterans. The founding philosophy of the WDBC was to give any player, volunteer or coach the opportunity to compete or participate at a District level, to provide a sporting club, service and facility available to any member of the local community with the opportunity to join, be welcomed and to actively participate in the great sport of basketball. WDBC took its first breath in March 1980 with its objective and vision being to enter and compete successfully at the district level for the immediate and long-term future of the club.

THE RETURN 🚨‼️

Woodville Warriors are thrilled to announce the signing of Alex Starling for the 2027 NBL1 Central season 💚💛

One of South Australian basketball’s most decorated players is BACK where it all started! 🙌

Alex first made his mark with Woodville, leading the Warriors to a championship and claiming the 2014 Woollacott Medal as League MVP.

Since then, Starling has built an incredible resume:

🏆 4× NBL1 Central / Premier League Champion
🏆 3× Woollacott Medal – League MVP
🛡️ 6× Defensive Player of the Year
🏆 3× Grand Final MVP
⭐ Multiple All-Star Five selections
🏀 Adelaide 36ers NBL player
🏆 2026 NBL1 Central Champion
🏆 2026 Grand Final MVP

Most recently, Alex produced 12 points and 15 rebounds in the 2026 Grand Final as Forestville claimed the championship, and Starling was named Grand Final MVP.

Now, he returns to Woodville bringing experience, leadership, toughness and a championship mentality to the Warriors group. 😤

Vicki and Kaye-Lee Return 🙌💚

The Woodville Warriors are pleased to announce the re-signing of Vicki Daldy and Kaye-Lee Stuart to lead our NBL1 Womens team for the 2027 NBL1 Central season.

This will be their third season with the Warriors as they continue to work on developing our young players to provide success and growth of our NBL1 program 💪.

🗣️ Woodville Warriors President Ros Jones said:
“We are so please to have Vicki and Kaye-Lee back to our NBL1 team in 2027.  2026 saw some of our young players not only train with the NBL1 team, but take the court and have valuable input on court. We look forward to another exciting year in 2027.”

SCOTT WHITMORE RETURNS 👑

The Woodville Warriors are pleased to announce the re-signing of Scott Whitmore as Head Coach of our NBL1 Men’s team for the 2027 NBL1 Central season.

Scott will enter his 11th year at the helm of the Warriors, continuing a remarkable tenure built on dedication, stability, and a genuine commitment to the club.

A true Warrior, Scott began his basketball journey as a junior player with Woodville and has always embodied a club-first approach. His passion for developing players and representing the Warriors has been instrumental in the success and growth of our NBL1 program.

Congratulations to our very own Woodville junior, Shamah Yak, on her selection into 2026 Lightning Academy program! 🏀🔥

The program runs for 6 weeks and gives rising junior players an incredible opportunity to develop, compete and showcase their talent, with the potential to earn a Development Player or Training Contract with the Adelaide Lightning.

We’re incredibly proud of Shamah representing Woodville and being rewarded for her talent and hard work! 💚💛
