We spend an awful lot of our lives trying to become someone else.

A little fitter. A little better. A little more organised. A little more capable of keeping all the plates spinning šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

And in all that effort, there can be a fine line between wanting to improve your life and believing that who you are right now isn’t quite good enough. That’s when self-improvement can start to look a little like self-rejection.

Because when we’re constantly focused on who we want to become, it’s very easy to overlook the person we are right now.

With all our quirks, our contradictions, our good days and our not-so-good ones.

It’s great to have things we’re working towards, things we’d like to change or improve. But sometimes, it’s just nice to be yourself. To spend a little time not thinking about what you need to do better, or what comes next. Just to be you, exactly as you are.

And that’s what you get with yoga.

You can be working on all those things in your life, trying to make things better, striving for whatever it is that matters to you. But when you come to yoga, you don’t have to be working on anything.

You can be 100% be yourself in this moment. Not needing to to achieve anything, fix anything or become anything.

Some days you’ll feel strong. Some days you’ll feel like you’ve forgotten how your own body works. Some days you’ll be thinking about what you’re having for dinner.

And that’s all part of it. And it’s all welcome.

Because yoga isn’t another part of your life where you have to prove you’re doing well. You don’t have to measure up. What a relief right?

It’s a chance to spend a little time with yourself, without making yourself another project.

And I think there’s something so lovely about that.

Come as you are. We’ll save you a spot.

I think we spend a crazy amount of time waiting for the weekend to arrive…

…and then what do we do? We spend it catching up on all the chores we didn’t have time to do during the week.

They might be important, but this is your reminder that the weekend is there for the other stuff too.

The things that make you laugh. The things you look forward to. A bit of rest and recovery. Time with people you love. A yoga class šŸ˜‰ A long coffee. Whatever makes your two days feel like a break from the other five.

Make sure you leave a little room for that.

I’ll see you on your yoga mat (yes it should be on the list)!

I’m a hugger.

But you don’t have to be. I’ll survive. Probably. šŸ˜‚
